I need stronger springs on my car. I am using the Bilstein HD shocks, and I am thinking about adding the Ground Control coilovers. I know they can recommend an appropriate spring. Have any of y'all used them with their recommended springs? I see on their website that they use Eibach springs, which I hear sack out in a year, but perhaps that can be adjusted. What has been your experience?

I use them and highly recommend them to anyone that is going with a full blown coilover solution. You can get them from Goodwin Racing with one of two spring setups: 550/350 or 700/350. The former is a good balance for street and autocross/track, the latter a good setup for a car used primarily as a racecar.

The Eibach sag myth is just that...a myth, especially with the specific springs used with the GC set up. Those stories are usually related to the Pro-Kit springs, which are about the same as stock, and even then my experience with them is that is mostly BS.
I think my GC setup is the 'basic' standard spring rate. If I was buying new I would get a higher rate but for free they are great. :) However, one must be careful what shock they choose with higher rate springs as many wont keep up.

IIRC I have 375/250. The 550/350s wont work with standard Konis.

Ahh after reading again....if you plan on keeping your Bilsteins I dont think anything higher then a 375/250 rate will work well for you.

+1 to what Metalman said. The Ground Control springs use a completely different Eibach spring set. If you go on the actual Ground control website, the have an application guide for your car including , type of shock, NA vs NB, use of the car, ect. You can actually stipulate your own specific spring rates, if you like, plus of course set your own ride height, and or corner weighting. Pretty good stuff for $399.

Thanks for all the input, I ordered a set this afternoon. We'll see how it goes.

what are you going to do with the other two upper mounts? I see you bout the Fm mounts but you should probly consider NB mounts to go with it. I know a guy that i can get a set on NB shocks for 60 I would be willing to go in half since i want these too.

Ok, they came in last Monday, installed over the weekend along with the Flyin Miata rear shock mounts. The springs are 440 lb/in front and 350 lb/inch rear based on what they recommended for the Bilstein HD shock. I am very pleased. The ride is actually better now. Apparently the Bilsteins need a stiffer spring to work properly, and combined with the Flyin Miata mounts it is great. Finally it handles like I want. I am looking forward to the Jaguar club autocross next weekend to really wring it out, and see how the times have improved. I look forward to spanking Alec with a faster time. Which may be tough since he will have his wheels with the Miata spec tires on them. Which will be faster, used spec tires or Falken RT615's? Stay tuned.

The RT215s will probably be faster, because they will warm up way faster than spec tires.
