its true. ask me how i know:


so im driving down 29 today leaving QT and i hit a bump. a SMALL bump. my gauge cluster lights go dim. so im like "wtf is going on here?". next thing i know im smelling burning plastic and im freakin out so i pull over and shut the car off. check all the fuses, none blown. so i get back in and the car wont start. we flag down someone to jump me off, who happened to be a really cute girl and i got her name and number :cool:. anyways, we start the car back up, no more smoke, but my gauge lights are gone. once again, i wtf. i try messing with the switch, and its really hard to move but the lights wont turn off.

basically, there was an epic short somewhere and it decided it needed to catch on fire. my lights stay on with the car, but turn off when you shut the car off. no turn sigs, and no gauge lights.

lol, i used to have problems with the electrics in two of my old e30's... which is one of the reasons i moved on to miatas. of course, now i have an e36 and an e39, whose electrics are orders of magnitude more complicated, buggy and expensive to fix than the e30's were... but i guess i'm a sucker for black bmw's.

tomorrow, im gonna wire the lights on separate circuits with aftermarket switches. im tired of this. lol.

if i had a spare car, id strip this one completely, eliminate all the bull**** wiring and sensors and **** as you would in a road race car, and then put all the interior back in. but i dont... :cry:

the reason i traded is because i didnt want the miata anymore. i was tired of having a 2 seater, convertible, ricey-sounding, UGLY, slow car. i love miatas, but i really needed the ability to carry more people/stuff with me when i go places.
