I need to make a 5 minute speech for my communications class on a quote that means a lot to me. The problem is, I can't find any.
I've found a bunch of quotes that I like, but we have to know who said it, and where and when it was said. I've been having a really hard time finding the last part.
I'm getting desperate because I'm giving the speech on the 23rd so I only have about a week to figure it out.

It's probably a long shot, but does anyone have a quote that they really like that I could use?
Anything would be appreciated! :)

"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving with a well preserved body but rather to come skidding in broadside, totally used up and proclaiming "Damn, what a ride."

"Racing makes heroin addiction look like a vague desire for something salty"

The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.
- Arthur C. Clarke

No clue. Does it matter?

For the record, i'm also a huge fan of that. Reminds me of the 72 yo (iirc) man that died @ Barber Motorsports park last year RACING MOTORCYCLES! That's how I want to go out.

Being a history geek and much interested in individual liberty & freedom, I have always liked this quote....

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government — lest it come to dominate our lives and interests." - Patrick Henry

Another of my favorites has more to do with the misquote and how it amuses me, having read alot about the person in question, Ethan Allen..who had nothing to do with furniture BTW. lol...
My interest is also further stimulated by the fact that he may have married into my ancestry.

It is said that when demanding the surrender of Fort Ticonderoga during the Revolution that he shouted at the British commandant that he surrender the fort "In the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress".

Its much more likely given the brash abrasive nature of his personality that he shouted "God Damn you Redcoat muther****er, give it up before I cut your ****in head off and feed it to the buzzards!".....or some other threat filled with curses and foul language. :lol:

When I visited the Fort in question the history guide there indicated much the same when I asked about that. /end history geek rant.

I'm with Kurt. All of my favorite quotes are political and usually have to do with freedoms and rights. I'm a sucker for some Thomas Jefferson.

This one always comes to mind during election years

"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter" - Winston Churchill

My absolute favorite ever quote.

"Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come."

William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Julius Caesar", Act 2 scene 2

I've never been a personal fan of Shakespeare. I always dreaded having to read it in English.
