So when are you going to get the 77' Bronco on 36" mud terrain tires to go with your gun collection?

I don't want a gun... don't trust myself.

I'm kind of on the fence about Steve getting a gun.
Our friend Harrison carries and it has helped us out of our many encounters with Newnan rednecks.
But Steve has a temper... He would shoot someone for cutting him off on the interstate!
(Sorry hun!)

You *******. I'm not THAT bad. Harrison has a worse temper then I do and you know it.

Take a gun course. The good ones will not only teach you how to properly handle and use a firearm, it will teach you a lot of self-control too.

Hey, I'm not stopping you from getting one!

Actually, we never really fight...

RotorNutFD3S

Yeah, it's a lot different when it's an actual situation.
I had a guy get out of his car with a bat in his hand one day, when he cut me off in the minivan no less, I kept mine down by the floor and calmly talked him down, but reassuring him that he did not want to do what that bat suggested he might want to do. I never even revealed I had it.

MeFryRice

I'm more worried that it they do see it, even if I have no intentions of using it, it will only make the situation worse cause you never know if they carry as well.

Sawyer
10-09-2008, 10:04 AM
Haha, they may have a bigger gun!

RotorNutFD3S
10-09-2008, 10:05 AM
Yeah, could definitely amplify the situation. That's why I recommend a course. They help a lot! I think it should be required to get a carrying permit anyway.

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 10:05 AM
Thats true. If i was carrying, I wouldn't wany anyone to know I had it.

ben91

A firearm is a defense tool and is your weapon of last resort to be used if and only if your life is in serious danger. It is not used to agitate, instigate, or for any other type of offensive behavior. Waving a firearm around in traffic is your best way to go to jail, have your weapon confiscated, and probably permanently loose your gun rights. And that's the best case scenario as it's likely that the officer responding will have a .40 or .45 caliber Glock in his hand when he reports to the scene, and he's been waiting to use it.

Not only do you only draw defensively, you only draw with intent to use. If you draw your weapon in public (if done justifiably or not), you go to jail. Keeping that in the back of your mind will always keep you cool.

I know no one with a quicker or more severe temper than me. I've handled others' weapons since I was in the boy scouts, and got my own as soon as I was 18. However I didn't start daily carrying until a recent incident that hammered home the "It's better to have and not need than to need and not have" mentality. I also know someone who had to draw and fire to save his own life. I have no desire to elaborate on either story.

I'm not opposed to having one around the house, don't be wrong on that. I cannot honestly think of a situation where I would have ever thought about brandishing a gun. Well, the other night when Jenn and I were nearly hit by the drunk driver, I can really say there is a VERY high probabily I would have taken out one of his back tires. I know someone who did this.

Hey Ben, maybe one of these days I can go to the range with you and see if it's even something i'd feel comfortable using :)

As they say on the internetz..QFT.

It is best left unmentioned, unrevealed, and untouched until one is 150% convinced there is no alternative.

And I'd much rather use my taser anyway. lol

Steve and Eric tried to get me to use one the other day...
I'm not comfortable with even touching one.
I've read too many horror stories.

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 11:07 AM
Yes but you were in a controlled environment. If you were EVER in a situation that you were forced to use one, I'd feel better knowing that you know how to properly handle one.

RotorNutFD3S
10-09-2008, 11:10 AM
Horror stories usually are the result of immature or uneducated handling of the weapon. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.
To play on Ben's quote, It's better to have the knowledge and not need it, than to need it and not have it at all.

A kid that used to always pick on my in Elementary school was with a friend which was showing him his dad's gun (just like every other story you hear) and it accidentally went off. The bullet hit Brian in the face right by his upper lip and was angled to where it entered his throat. The doctors had indicated that would cause more damage by removing the bullet then just leaving it in there, to this day, that bullet is still in his throat but he's very lucky he is alive.

I'm more worried that it they do see it, even if I have no intentions of using it, it will only make the situation worse cause you never know if they carry as well.

You need to think about this real hard.
If you have no intentions of using your weapon, then you have no need to pull it. If you are unable or unwilling to use it, do not show it. Your gun is not a scare tactic.

A police officer once told me, "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill every mother****er in the room if you have to."

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 12:00 PM
I will use the weapon if I'm put in that situation but I don't want someone to escalate the situation because of it, if that makes any sense. If I were to carry, it would be hidden. There will be no reason why someone should see if unless I had to actually use it.

Sorry, I actually have to work too. lol

I like the general rule that every thread begins with a topic and then evolves. :) Probably not so good for order though...

I'm sure as we get more members, it'll change that more people will post about the topic rather than turning every thread into a lounge.

Yup that's why I'm not a power mad ban stick wielding admin. But I think we do need to be a bit better about it because we do seem to actually be attracting new members at the moment and we don't need it to seem too cliquish just yet.

MeFryRice
10-10-2008, 01:54 PM
I've never played either of the two. :(

RotorNutFD3S
10-10-2008, 02:10 PM
Dude, you have no idea what you're missing. It's the legal way to use guns to inflict pain on one another.
It's also one of those things where you can modify and accessorize, so it's a potential money taker too.

MeFryRice
10-10-2008, 02:12 PM

I love it! After I started working at Honda, I wasn't able to go out with everyone and play much anymore, and then everyone started to move and stop playing altogether, so I sold my guns.

Doppelgänger

RotorNutFD3S
10-10-2008, 04:34 PM
Yep. Doesn't hurt too bad either. Little welts like a mosquito bite. lol
Paintball on the other hand hurts depending on range. Those are big welts when you get hit right (which is why I wear a full mask and a flak vest). It's even worse playing when it's really cold.

metalman
10-10-2008, 05:56 PM
I have done airsoft battles....in my living room, upstairs against downstairs...father against son.
I was shooting at son number 1 and hit son number 2 in the eye...and he wasnt even playing! Gotta be careful with those things. :wtf:

10-10-2008, 06:46 PM
Hopefully that was with a spring loaded gun and not the electronic!
