i tried searching and reading as many threads as i could, but i was wondering, is it possible to have the headlight not close down ALL the way, and at the same time when they're deployed at night the lights arent affected? would this require fab work or some sort of bolt on? i'm only lookin for about an inch.

Also, has anyone made the rear of the hood about an inch taller. like shimmed/washer stack to make it where air can escape infront of the cowl?

i've always like that look and i wanna try it out if its easy to do :o

please don't, it makes the car look like a retard.

on a 240 you cut a wire that is connected to the switch.

I believe you reverse the 2 wires on the switch. Each to his own

i went and looked at what was there, and i dont feel like screwing all of that stuff up. i thought maybe you could adjust it, but i was wrong.

i've always seen it as a show car thing.. which my car isnt.

i was thinking.. this mod looks good on the 180sx flip up headlights b/c they're sort of sunken in, where as the miata has "hidden" or flush mounted barn doors.

you could use a Pivot controller but they are like 90 dollars.

this is actually bad for the way the air flow works around the engine at speeds higher than 20mph. great if your goin slower though

So glad to see you're learning! :D

Fender, I know you're looking for the "sleepy eye" effect, but if you want to get rid of the air brakes/barn doors, look into a set of Moss low-profile headlights. They're great!

yeh, i love that moss set up but i believe its around 600 bucks? i might be able to find one second had if i wait and pounce on it like i did my car (wait for the deal of the century)

i was kinda looking for a easy if not free mod but i like the headlights being flush.. i drove around with the buckets up with the lights off and it got sooooooo annoying. i like the look of no headlights and amber bulbs in the clear blinker the most. i ride around with them like they're daylight running lamps, and i think thats the cleanest look...

Yeah, the deals are to be had. I snagged mine on eBay for $150.

yeh i was part of foxtbirdcougarforums.com and its a lot like this forum, like family, but they're all old guys tbh. but one thing that i learned from them is the deals will come if you wait for it. theres a guy who built a badass thunderbird, and it took him like 6 years to get all the parts, and i think 3 months to get it all back together and painted. he told everyone just wait till the deals come around, they will.

also i was googling miatas and i found one with sleepy/lazy eyed. it just didnt work with the blinkers. it just didnt fit imo. this mod just takes me back to when i wanted a jdm car and loved the show cars with sleepy eyed lights. come to think about it.. thats old as APC!

My son rigged his with a switch so it the headlight could be made not to close all the way. He drive it like that for a while, then got tired of it. Unfortunately, it screwed something up, which we cannot figure out, and now the headlight will not close on their own. He has to manually lower them. You can trick them to go down by the motor, but they always pop right back up.

yeh thats the one thing i was worried about, if i didnt like it what it would it cost me to go back to stock. it was cool like 5-10 years ago lol

I have them on my NA, and like the kit....I did not use the clear cover though.

i've seen those before, are there sharp lines where the lights are sunken in? like full light from left to right? i'd like to see what that looks like without the covers!!

I tried the AAC lights on my car when I first got it and did not enjoy them at all. In the city where there is plenty of lighting, they were fine. Out here though where there is not any lighting, the amount of glare produced by the light being below the bumper line was very noticeable. It wasn't bad enough to really cause a lot of concern, but I don't like light in my face at night, and this setup does cast some back into the cabin. Just FYI.

I saw some old dude in a merlot NA with a hardtop and NB wheels in Tyrone with those lights the other day. Looked pretty damn cool. Not sure about function though.

isnt it illegal with the stock lights? i know when the 240's do it with cutting the switch they can still make the headlights come all the way up...if not my bad

i just unpluged the headlight motors and set them to a height i liked. then i bought some driving and fog lights from autozone like 20$ a set, (you could buy like projectors and do nicer) then i made a custome mount for the lights, and now they stay that height, and i have hids in both the fogs and driving lights. way better then stock. and i think it looks badass, and sets my miata apart from all the other.

btw where and how did you do the fender flares? i just got my sportmaxx wheels and they dont rub, if im driving softly. and i hate driving like that. haha
