On my passenger side side-view mirror the little white base piece is breaking off, exposing the black part where the screws are, so i was thinking of just totally taking off the bases on both side mirrors and spray painting the entire mirrors black? What do you think?

As long as the convertible top is black, it will look good, especially on a white Miata. I did that to my old ones with gloss black. Just make sure that you sand and prep them before you paint. :)

Found a picture of one, although it's linked to an ImageShack photo, so I can't find the full size image. Sorry.

I had black mirrors on my white NA, I always thought they looked better than the big white stockers...

I think it'll look solid enough. Make sure you do light coats and do a clear coat! I recommend Rustoleum from Walmart. Get the Satin black one I think.

Yeah...I mean I'll eventually love to get some black cf mirrors, but I'd rather spend a good $250 on a lip...so I'm just gonna break the bases off (since one is already practically broken off) and paint those suckers black!

You think I should do Satin Black? I was thinking more along the lines of glossy, to match the rest of the glossiness of the car.??:dunno:

The Satin isn't a flat black. It's got a bit of depth and the clear coat will make it have the shine. Check out my front lip painted pictures, that's the paint I used on that.

Wow really? I dunno, satin black seems more like a faded black/dark gray. It looks cool for all over paint jobs, but I don't think it would really match my car. Your lip looks awesome though. I never would have thought that was satin black.

I thought the same thing too, Casey said different when we were buying the paint... and he was right!

If you use a satin as a basecoat and then a gloss clear as the top coat, it will be shiny. I think that's what Jack is recommending. :)

Satin is reflective. Just not "see your face in it" glossy. Most black wood furniture is painted in a satin finish now a days. Satin black finish will look similar to your guage hood surround. Reflect light, but not flat.

Alright, well hmmm..I'm still leaning more towards gloss black. But thanks everybody!

Don't let anyone else's opinion sway you. If you want gloss, go gloss!

yes ma'am! i think i've decided on the gloss. i just think it'll look better with the glossiness of the white paint!
