So,my question is-Which inlet flange do I put on it?I want have a flange that will allow a ready upgrade path,as well as an inexpensive initial (used) turbo purchase.I also would like to find the appropriate drawings to make this flange.I've searched for drawings and havent found anything, couldbe my search parameters. Please Help. Thanks Guys

for ease of upgradability id actually say something like a dsm turbo. wide range of upgrades available, and an initial one can be had pretty cheaply also

if i remember correctly anything from a 14b all the way to like a 20g. i think they all use the td05 housing, but not 100% sure. for all things dsm check out dsmtalk.com or vfaq.com

I would source the turbo before flanging the exhaust manifold.
But if you're going to jump the gun, you will be most versatile with T2 (damn near every small turbo is T2). T3 is also easy to find in junkyard (saab).
You can buy the flanges, that's what I see most people who build their own manifold do. Or you can, again, get your turbo first, then build your flange using the turbo as a template.
I have a spare T3 based saab turbo you could template from, but it's kind of goofy logistically since you live so far away.

I agree that it doesnt make a lot of sense to do it this way,but I may be changing jobs soon, and it often takes a while for a new employer to allow you to do "government work"Just send me the Gasket!:lol:I have more skill and time than I have $$$ so If I want boost this is the Way it Has to go for me.Thanks for the advice. This si not a MT.net friendly question.

I looked & don't have a gasket. I'm not a gasket fan when it comes to turbos.

I'll second the DSM flange idea. You can get a brand new MHI EVO Big 16G turbo for under $600. They can push almost 25psi efficiently, and on a 4G63 with supporting mods, can make 400hp. On a 1.8L Miata, I can see them making close to 300whp. You can also find a used 14B turbo (same flange) off a 1st Gen DSM for under $100.
Then when you really get greedy, you can step up to the 20G, and make some ridiculous power.

Make sure you get a gasket for a 90-94, the later models had crappy T25s. I'll gladly take the gasket when you're done, unless somebody else needs it.
