Welcome everyone to MX5ATLanta!!
This should be the final version of the website barring updates and visual changes, but there shouldn't be any more major changes. And with that, let me introduce myself to everyone.
My name is Jack and I own a 1996 Miata. Not much done in terms of mods, which expand to a Harddog Rollbar, some lovely Azeni's and gold spray paint!
Anyway, here are some pictures!

So I know a few of you already went through this, but if you're feeling up for it, post up and introduce yourself to everybody!

I hadn't seen that second pic until now, Jack. That one's money.
I'm Tommy. Had a somewhat hardcore 1.6 for a while and made the mistake of selling it for a....*sigh*, a Mustang.
But then I realized the error of my ways and am waiting for a decent 1.8 to pop up locally.
The new forum looks great Jackie.

Cheers mate. I'm weighing up all the security pro's and con's of mybb compared to vbulletin, mainly trying to figure out why vbulletin costs $180 before I go on to Miata.net and start gathering members. I really hope to have some stickers done by the next autox to really get ahold of the Atlanta region Miata.

this aside, i'm mitch. i currently own a 1997 altima. unfortunately can't say i have never had a miata, but ask anyone who knows me and they can tell you i want one desperately. until the great day i purchase my miata i'll be abusing my altima on backroads and hopefully at some autox's.

I'm Simon. I own a 90 (1.6) with the following: Megasquirt PNP ECU, HKS filter, AFM delete, relocated intake, header, cat delete, Tein springs, KYB AGX shocks, OPM strut bar, seam welded chassis, weld in roll bar, Corbeau seat, 5 point harness, A/C and PWS gone, all metal bushings, Flyin Miata sway bar in the front, some other things.
Miatas FTW
I am going to put a full cage in soon and run ITU next season I hope. Or just run test days lol.

My name's Kevin and I've got a problem... Oh wait, different forum. I drive a 2001 MX-5 prepped for C-Stock. RB front sway and GHG endlinks, Koni adjustables, multiple mufflers lying around (three at the moment, I'll have four soon enough) and very little else. One of these days I might bump the car up to CSP and go crazy on the engine, but I doubt it.

Guys, I'm officially back in a Miata as of tonight. Picked up a 91 BRG that was on Craigslist for a matter of hours. Has some hail damage but otherwise in great shape. Mayhem to commence immediately.
If anybody has use for a really nice tan leather interior, the entire set will be for sale shortly. ;)

thanks, yea i painted them myself, just one can of duplicolor bronze wheel paint and it turned out quite well, have to prep them well, clean well, light sanding and plenty of light coats, i have two sets of 99 14's, the bronze ones with Azenis and the other cheap sumitomos for just putting miles on

Howdy folks,
Great idea for a local club! P'Tree just didn't do it for me.
I DD an Rx8, but the track bug bit me and decided a paid-off second car was the way to go. Found a 97 that had been sitting for a couple years with a torn top, (and a mystery box of parts) the owner sold for a great price since it hadn't run and was full of leaves and pollen. I decided to give it life again.
It came with a Brainstorm Rollbar. Put on new top, All fluids are now drained and switched to high temp/redline etc stuff, HP+ pads, RB intake, unresonated pipe, single tip catback, Exedy stage 1 clutch, Act prolite fly, mystery f+r sways (from the box), Koni adjustables, RB springs, NGK, nice little removable Alpine amp, Voodoo knob. GTE performance align, and Mazcare does most of my work.
Whoever had owned it put 17" Kosei K1's on w/Kuhmo MX. The wagon wheels were ok for a bit, but I pick up my new Black Enkei RPF-1's wrapped in Hankook RS-2's tomorrow. w00t!
Building and changing as I learn. About 14 track days and one autox newb school so far.

Yes- inspired by for sure, though there are subtle differences. That's a 70s Ford (think mustang/fiesta) orange diamond on an 80s Audi/VW green. The ragged orange is just vinyl sheet we sprayed in the booth, cut and applied. My driving school instructor told me, "If you can't drive fast, at least look fast." There's definitely some truth to that. Even though we didn't stand a chance against the factory front runners, we got a lot of publicity/coverage. :D

Hello everyone:
My name is Patrick D'Auria. I co-drive a turbo Miata in SM2 with the Atlanta Region SCCA. I have some pictures I'll upload later.
These little cars are amazing! The car I co-drive is owned by Jerrey Hoffman, owner of DIYAutotune.com His car is set up really well and is super fast. I won SM2 both times I drove it.
I believe the specs are as follows
Plung N Play DIYAutotune Computer
250 wheel HP
1.6 L
T25 Turbo
Konis Race valved shocks
700lbs F 500lbs rear springs
996 Rims with Hankook R comps
I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hi all, I'm Wayne. I have a turbo'd '96 (http://gtf.org/asana/miata/miata.htm). Most of the stuff in that link is accurate. It's stepped up to shortened and revalved konis with 650#f/433#r springs. And reinforced sway bar brackets after the big bar tore out the stock ones. heh. It's about the only thing I know of to make the ****ty Atlanta traffic fun. :P
Here's the car a couple years ago when it had the stock ground control package springs on it.

Hello all my name is Ben. (Sorry roadster didn't see your name soon enough, will try and change mine). I recently gave up my Harley to add two more wheels for a change. I bought a used '08 in May but now I am wishing I had an older model I could do more mods. If it gets to me bad enough there might be a slightly used 08 on the market. Thanks MeFryRice for the Racing Beat. Hope your boss was OK with the deal. Still haven't had a chance to put it on but hopefully before the weekend. My turn. My name's Jeff and I used to have red hair. Bright, screaming *** orange hair, but old age and aircraft hydraulic fluid has slowly turned to what I have left to a nice light gray.
I've had my car for about 7 years. I had always wanted a small roadster convertible and finally in 2001 I bought my 1990 Red Miata off of Ebay. The only bad part was that the car was located in Bellingham, Washington. I caught a Delta flight out to SEA/TAC and spent the night at a lovely Super8 hotel. In the morning I took a bus up to Bellingham to pick up the car.
3 days later I had the car back in Lawrenceville.

redjeff
08-16-2008, 10:19 AM
Not too sure what to do with the project car. My oldest son has been helping me work on it, if he can come up with a small amount of cash, I'll sell it to him. I may rip out the air conditioning and power steering. I just need to stop procrastinating and do something with it.
The previous owners shaved the door handles and installed a window switch in the trunk. The only way to get into it was to open the trunk and hit the switch, not very fun when it's raining. I may put some door poppers on or I'll buy some new doors off of Metalman. I just need to get it running first.
BTW, I'm really diggin on your MS's Lava Orange paint.

Hey everyone, I'm Eric, I have a flared and turbo'd '95 R-Package. A lot of you have probably seen the car either in person or on various forums, and some Miata product websites. I'm happy to have yet another forum to read during the day. lol
About the car, it's pretty heavily modified, definitely past the point of no return, but it is (well, normally is) a very reliable daily driver. Suspected hydrolock after I reinstalled cleaned injectors bent a rod in cyl. #1, so a mild build (forged rods, tri-coated OEM pistons, and ARP hardware) is in progress.
The only thing I'll want to do to it (haha, hopefully) after it's back on the road is get a 6-speed transmission, Enthuza 3", and some body work and repaint.
I work for Yamaha as a Materials Controller, basically ensuring that parts are coming in on time so that they can build everything. It's a nice change from my recent job with AutoNation as an Inventory Manager, as I now work a set 40 hours a week and get the weekends off instead of 60+ hours a week with maybe Sunday off.

Thanks! The red valve cover is just Krylon wrinkle red paint. It gets dull and I just have to recoat it every couple years. When the MSM came out back in '04 I knew thats the color valve cover I wanted.

oops i had one but when i posted it it was gone.
my name is tim, i have been in the miata community for ten years and i am a miataholic.
i had my first taste of the miata back in 90. i remember the first one i ever saw. how it smelled. how i knew all i wanted to do was drive it.
time passed by i bought fast cars trying to forget all about the little miata. till one day my heart and soul mustang was taken from me by an elderly lady that should not have been driving.
as the mustang was bleeding to death on the road. i realized i needed a replacement, a track car something fun and cheap. i looked at porsches, mustangs. but nothing fit the bill.
then i remebered a track day at Talladega. the little miata that was zoom zooming around the track with the same times as my track preped stang.
i went on the net doing research on miata.net and was told to get a 94 or newer miata. that week i found my car at jim ellis. a 94 base with 72k miles for 6700.00 sold. at the time the best deal on a 94-95 was close to 10k.
i joined peach tree miata and went to all the meetings. i hung out at rspeed on sat mornings. i met some of the coolest people ever and have had some of the best times of my life all because bob hall inspired a japanese car company to bring back a classic.
since the day i bought my miata i have not missed a single MATG meet.
i am still driving the same miata i bought in 98 too most peoples amazement.
it has all the usual mods and still runs like a champ. well more like rocky in rocky 9.

 I don't know why I was asking.. I'm the admin I could just use my super powers!
My unofficial intro was on the washing/cleaning thread the other day. I suppose to be PC and all I should make it offical here.
So hi all you atl miata owners.
If I'm completely honest I'm here for selfish reasons. For the past year I've been keeping my fingers crossed that some local owners will organize a tech day...one that offers a chance to do some higher difficulty jobs that are over this rookies level of expertice to attempt alone, e.g., timing belt, shock replacement, air intake mods. Plus I think along with getting to know some good folks I'd just love the chance to pick the brains of other drivers about general maintenence questions and things I like about their cars. I tried contacting the Peachtree Club a few times and nada back from them. I posted my interest over at miata.net in the SE region...and nothing once more.
But enough of my whining. Great to have a local site to come to. Thanks!

The peachtree club is more about gift shops and leaf looking then cars.
You will likely have issues doing automotive related items with them anyway, so be glad you didnt hear back.

Anyway, my name's Scott. I just got a Miata a few weeks ago, but I helped my bro swap the motor in his Miata last year, as well as the suspension, rear end, etc. So I've got some time wrenching on these things. Before I got the Miata, I was driving a 240SX that I had swapped a sr20det into (it was the 4th sr20 swap I'd done). I also have a Mirage Turbo hatchback that's about to get a JDM Galant VR4 RS engine, complete with 16G turbo. It should be pretty friggin nasty.
About me...I'm back in college, after serving in the USAF for 8 years as a linguist. I play bass in a metal band (the link is in my sig). Oh yeah, and I live in Augusta, but I try to make it out to ATL as often as I can.
