Defintely cheaper...however, the action of a 10 hr LeMans type race is quite different then a bunch of Miatas, Hondas, and the like beating around the track. :D

If you like old cars the SVRA is a great event, walking around the pits is really cool. Kurt and I went last year and a one day ticket is only $20.

I was really surprised at how many people were there, especially considering the price and scarcity of gasoline lately. This was our first time taking our daughter to a race, so we stuck to our seats along the straight between turns 5 and 6 (aka, near the bathroom and our car) for much of the day. A couple in a Miata with MX5Atlanta stickers on it drove right by us near the vendor area - I said hey and knocked on the side of the car, but the driver never looked over at me and I think I made his girl just about pee herself when she looked up and saw me standing along side the car. Ahh well, so much for being friendly

But for a team that is new to AMLS, they did put up a damn good fight. I know Porsche has been taking overall wins on some tracks over Audi, but they didn't have a chance at RA. I do wish that the Astons had made it through the entire race :(

Yes, in *some* of the cars that were left open, they were left in the driver's seat. We went to walk around and they were in a few of the cars when we returned. I looked in the RX7s, Protege, and 6s that were there, and did not see them. Just the miatas that were left open. It must have been in the 3 pm or so area when it happened.

Oh... we were out of the corral by then. We left without even seeing Ben's car there so it must have been after. We moved over to the other side of the track to hang out with some friends.
We got there a little after noon. But I think it was 2 before we found the Mazda area. It was hidden and none of the track workers knew where it was. We also tried finding the Mazda Chalet, but they did not have one this year. The trackworkers were all clueless in that regard too.
We did not see you guys at the Corral. I thought perhaps you'd be in the turn 10 area, but didn't see you there either.
After we left, we went back to my house and watched the race on SpeedHD. Many times when the helicopter showed the leader go through the turn 4 area, the cars on the track side of the mazda corral ended up on TV. So william's car, mine, kurt's and then Scott's (if memory serves) got air time. The orange protege and silver fd that were parked in front of us also made several tv appearances. kind of neat.

 The photographers kept asking her for a 'shot without the glasses'...she obliged them but laughingly complained after that her eyes were sensitive to the sun and that there would be a red ridge on her nose from the glasses which would look really great in photos.
Some dude was shooting video too, not sure what that deal was. It never ceases to amaze me how many freaking photo people are at these events.
I mean, how many pictures really get used for anything in the long run.
