i drove around for an hour yesterday only to find 1 QT had gas... after seeing the line of suv's HUGE trucks (filling tanks and tanks) and putting them into the car then filling up the car... i decided im going to start getting photos of this... if ya got any pictures from the "dry spell of petrol" let me know ive got some friends who don't believe me out of state that this is really happening...

ill post some up as i seem.

It's pathetic seeing people fill up when they don't need to and hording gas. That's the bloody reason we've got the problem we have right now!

I have no pictures, but I sat and watched for a while as it happened. Between the media and idiots, this will not end soon.

I stopped at every gas station from the 85 exit and my house. No one has premium!
I've been driving with my gas light on for the past 45 miles and I'm about to leave for work.

I'll probably update later with a pic of me next to my empty gas tank on the side of the road.. :(

Hopefully for you, no HERO unit will be necessary.

This just goes to reinforce my theory that people are idiots. Also, I was able to get a full tank this morning at the QT on Bogg's Rd. I'm going out of town this weekend, so fuel kind of is necessary when you're below a quarter tank and going to be putting about 4 hours worth of interstate on the car in the next few days ;)

These people should be shot.

I'm headed out of town in the morning and I have enough to get me home from work and probably a good 40 miles up 85 where there should be plenty of gas.

The P5 has a sunroof! You can stand up in the passenger seat, that would be AWESOME!

I just got off the phone with my dad a little while ago. One of his clients works at a tank farm. She said they're full, but are not allowed to distribute any more than what is scheduled until production in the Gulf picks back up.
This is so f-in retarded...

My gauge was below empty, so i had to go gas hunting after work tonight. I went to five stations before finding one with gasoline - at $4.60 a gallon, five gallon max! Fortunately my commute to the park-n-ride lot is only five miles round trip, so half a tank will last me quite a while if i limit my weekend driving.

5 gal limit + oversized SUV = lol & fail

fluck limiting how much gas 'you can get'.... they make the $$ either way....correction, they gouge the price either way.

Well, gas is now out in Asheville as well. Fun! WTF is going on here?

I'm so glad I'm about to head out of town. We've been barely driving the last few days to avoid the lines and prices. Hopefully things will be better by the time I get back.

What is even more unforunate is that the idiots suck us all in on this **** by rushing to whatever place has gas. Thus, in turn, means that unless people like us who are generally smart not to be topping off al of the time, have to do it to or risk not having gas because everyone else had already been there.

There are 2 ways around this.
The first is that when gas stations start getting gas, to NOT sell it/ not let any one know they have it. This way, all the stations around can get gas too. Once al lthe stations in a given area have gas, they all let it be known at the same tome. This reduces any surge of people going to a single station and draining the supply in a matter of hours.

Or

Gas stations to limit every customer to like 7 gallons. This would unfortunatly require babysitters at the pumps to make sure everyone complies and does not fill up external gas cans. Thist would allow other stations to start catching on too.

Don't be a moron. You can't fill a car's tank directly from a tanker truck.

And yes, your tax dollars DO fill policemen's gas tanks. And sometimes they do personal things in their issued vehicles. But not in DeKalb--as their cruisers run 24 hrs/day. Gwinnett has take home cars, and I have 2 friends who are GCPD, and both of them DO drive their squad car on their days off. They are required to be in full uniform to drive the car. And personally, I couldn't give less of a **** if they wanted to drive their cars across the country. Those guys get $34k a year and risk their life everyday. As far as I'm concerned, it's a fringe benefit.

This gas shortage is BS, but luckily the EPA has removed the low sulfur requirement for Atlanta fuel. That should help tremendously.

Of course, 2 weeks ago it was reported our supplies would be back to normal in 2 weeks. Now they're saying it will be 2 more weeks. Whatev.

Did I read somewhere about a website that has updated info on gas supplies?

Doppelgänger
09-25-2008, 11:19 AM
yeah, it's being advertised on 11alive.com , basically it's a interactive version of Google Maps with updated station info.... almost like atlantagasprices.com

I'd be willing to bet that since gas prices have gone up and peoples driving habits have changed to the point where Atlanta drivers are driving noticable less, we coould go back to the more pure gast that is free of ethanol and have higher sulfer and still have less emissions. Also, this "non-cocktail" gas that will be coming in gives us better gas milage.

For sure! My car may be dead at the moment, but I sure am glad I can drive the van around on regular gas and not worry about it too much.
