Does anyone else think there were some cool cars from the 80's? I know a lot of them are now the best looking cars, but there were just some that were so different and mfgs. were trying new things. I had a 91 RX-7 that I loved.. and would still like to have another one some day (mmm S5 TII).
Did anyone have any of these contraptions?
My thoughts were sparked by this...

I really liked my 1989 Ford Probe GT turbo, a car which often gets made fun of.
It ran fairly strong and had a nice mid range torque aspect. It was also highly reliable.

Neighbor in my old neighborhood had one of those exact Omni's.
I had an '86 GXL and '91 Turbo II Convertible RX7. Some of the most fun I ever had.
My mom had (we still have it) a 1984 Toyota Van. Seriously, there was no name for it. It was just van. 2 sunroofs, 1 that slides open half the van length, and the one in the front was a pop-up type. Has a powered beverage cooler with ice-maker trays in the center console and a powered subwoofer in the very back. Some of the largest opening rear side windows, they slid all the way open instead of the pop open type on most minivans. Ugly as hell though and you sat on the engine:

Haha early Omnis even had a gutless ****ty VW like engine.
Later ones with the turbo 2.2 were the ones to have.

Mazda 323 GTX FTW! I never owned one (surprising since I'm on my 15th...no maybe 16th car in 16 years). Nevertheless, I loved those.

82 Mustang GT. Started Detroit muscle again. I had a friend that ordered the first one in Greensboro NC. It came with a a tag on the dash that read specially tuned by SVO. He thought it was the hottest thing around, until one day cruising down I-85 going to Charlotte, a 72 Pantera came up beside us. We topped out aroud 130mph. The Pantera would gun it, back down, gun it,back down, then shifted into fifth and disappeared. I still wonder what thate Mustang would be worth now with the SVO tag on it.

Had a 1980 Triumph TR-8 roadster
The V8 made that a quick little car for the power starved early 80's
88 Celica AllTrac :3 Street Legal rally car ^^ Belongs to a friend of mine. One of his friends has a Toyota factory built rally version. I saw another 88 Trac last weekend with a 94 GT-Four WRC engine swapped into it :p

as far as rare, old and ugly I would so rather have the VR-4 Galant then that car. Granted there were a few more imported then the impluse, but I think the Vr-4 was 1800 over two years, plus it is a 4 door.

Those cars never had 4G63s in them. That generation was powered by either a 1.6L or 1.8L engine. The previous generation had a 2.0L, but it was a 4ZC1-T.

My roomate has a GVR4. I production in the US was 3000 total (1991 and 1992). The 4G63T I'm putting in my Mirage was actually from a Galant VR-4 RS version in Japan.

you sure 3000... mmm.. maybe I am thinking 1800 for the first year and 1200 for the second. Either way, I would still love to have one. It is the true baby Evo.

No GNX lovers? There has never been a more wicked automobile. The 83+ Monte Carlos look pretty good. And any 80s car list has gotta include the AE86.

Turbo Buicks: Regals and GNs
I laughed my *** off at a 323GT that came to Circuit City that I installed a radio in. I went to go park it and accidentally got into boost (I didn't know it was turboed) and scared the hell out of myself. Never again!

FE3tMX5 I hate your avatar It is the ugliest thing ive ever seen, and Ive seen inside a person head!In the '80s I drove a 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight 2dr.455c.i. and was as long as a cadillac. If I had the thing now it would be worth bucks,But some kid would just roll it on 24"s and make it look dumb
The '90s were my decade for cars!!!!!!!!!!!!
