time for new brakes

ok i need to change the pads and i was thinking about going ahead and putting in stainless steel lines , more aggressive pads, and new rotors( could machine the old ones but they are rusty and just easier to get new ones). any recomendations on lines, pads, rotors? i was thinking about just getting a regular set of replacement rotors. i am trying to do this on a budget. thanks for the input.

Assuming this will be daily street driven, I personally recommend blank rotors and ceramic pads (less break dust) for everyday use....

I picked up autozone rotors, hp+ pads for the fronts from goodwin racing and haven't felt the need for lines. I've got a nice feel currently. Once the pads get a little heat in them they brake great. They're pretty squeaky after a while and make a huge amount of dust. But that's all part and the parcel of good pads.

yeah i should have said it is 90% street driven no time to go to the auto x sinc ei work most weekends. ill look into planet miata.

what do you think? worth the money really ? think the slotted rotors are with it or just stick with blanks?

I wouldnt bother with slotted rotors. $15 blanks from NAPA will work just fine.

For every day driving, blanks will be just fine! Just make sure to stay away from drilled rotors as they tend to crack fairly easy. :(

yeah i know the drilled will crack just looking at some opitions. btw doesnt the AE model have the sport suspension? looking at napa they have some that exclude that suspension.

Brakes to exclude that model?? That's odd, does that edition have bigger brakes? I wouldn't have thought the pad or rotor size would be any different for any model.

i don't believe it does, i just read from a couple of sites that some pads and rotors exclude a sport suspension. i know the AE as bilstien shocks which were not the same as the other models. just not sure if thats what they are referring too or its a package thats on later models since they fit all 94-05 models. just want to make sure i get the right part when i get it.

2001 is when Mazda introduced the "Sport Suspension/Brake" package. If you heard somewhere that the 10thAE edition has them, I'm not saying it's wrong. Here's a way to find out. Measure the diameter of your rotor. If it is 10.0" (94-01), you have the regular brakes, and can order as normal. If they are 10.6", you have the 01-05 Sport Suspension/Brake Package, and must order accordingly. And if anyone is curious, 90-93 brakes are 9.3" in diameter.

thanks for the help i figured out between what you said and a few websites that while the shocks and different on the 10th ae the brakes are the same.
