So since you claim you got your mom's Accord to 140mph, and then added "in the quarter mile", but now the original post has been edited to nothing important, can we just delete the thread?

If you used that logic most of the threads here would be deleted.

This isn't 4 popped collars cool, but some ******bag salesman at the local Nissan dealership tried to tell me that his CVT-equipped Versa could do 137mph. I pretty much laughed at him to his face. It could probably do 137mph if it was dropped from a C-130 at 20,000ft.

But here's the reason those threads survive, someone comes in and saves it by making a joke.

Call me crazy, but... a good friend of mine bought an '08 Maxima late last year, brings it by, and I take it for a spin. I knew it was an auto, and was not paying any attention...as it turns out, it was a CVT!
All the reading I had done on them, and always thought it would be really strange not to feel the "shift"....I dig it on a "smoothness of driving" level!

Yeah, but they're rather inefficent.. the Sentra I had with CVT struggled to get 23mpg..on the highway...drafting other cars. **** sucks... but it did sound quite funny when I took the air filter box off and would lay into the throttle and there was like 30 seconds on a monotone WAAAAAAAA while the car slowly accelerated.

Ahaha, Nice!
Um, yea...HORRIBLE mpg for the Maxima!
Messed up thing is, Nissan actually claims (or used to) that the CVT gets better fuel economy!
so, agreed
Nissan CVT=fail
