So,since some of us here have a good idea on setting up a day at TGP, i thought i'd make a thread so we can discuss having our own/all miata track day. Most likely it would fall on a mon-thurs since the cost is SO much less ($150-180). Also, the more people, the less the cost per person but that takes away from each person's available track time. It's VERY fun and EDUCATIONAL.

I'm not going to say any dates, just want to gauge who all would be interested.

i've yet to make it to a tgp event - ideally speaking, how many cars can lap at a time?

About 3 cars at a time...sometimes 4.

A Miata sticker should suffice :D

One of the admins over at www.atlantaporscheclub.com often organises TGP track days. So if we need numbers then it shouldn't be too much of problem. Is it open all year?

are there any inexpensive hotels nearby to stay the night before an event?

If you split something with someone it could be cheap. Or, there maybe be something less expensive in Talladega itself. We always stay up near the interstate because I'm a little fussy when it comes to staying in odd places in Alabama. lol. It's usually about $99 a night.

Most people just drive over the night before. It's really not that far.

We have stayed overnight before an event jsut to make sure we are ther eon time and not have to wake up super early. The drive is about 1.5 hrs from downtown.

Yeah... it was rather scary in "downtown" Talladega. If you *have* to go there (only place for food besides the gas station next to the track), get it to go and GTFO lol.

I meant that TGP is about 1.5 hrs from downtown Atlanta.. or about 100mi

I've never been to "downtown" Talladega, it's that bad huh??

It's sort of like.... a big Walmart. But made up of many parts and with different signs. If that makes sense. It's very small, very ugly, I don't want anything they have there and the people that we ran across left a lot to be desired.
