Damn Belfab Racing!!! They told the machine shop that they sent the ONE F***ing valve needed to finish my cylinder head out on Monday, what they didn't say is that they actually didn't have any on hand as they originally said and that they contacted Supertech to send one out. Well, it's finally on the way and won't be here Monday. So my hopes of assembling the engine and dropping it and the transmission in on Friday have just gone up in smoke...

Bryan, sounds like an issue with the clutch itself. Is it possible you damaged the pressure plate when mounting the engine to the trans?

Also if the DP is 4" too short to hook up to the exhaust, just have that length added to the cat pipe. Easy enough.

I ran my silver car with an open downpipe for a while. It's loud but works. :)

what vac? at idle? different for every car, not a fair question.
plus you have the ability to tune for highest vac (which means most efficient) idle

i went to the doctor and they said from what i had described to them i did have a SVT attack. so they referred me to a cardiologist in Thomas Crossroads. so i went there, and they did a ekg on me and took some blood to run some test on. they made me an appointment to come back in two weeks to get a ultrasound of my heart to check to see if it is structurally well and to get me on a heart monitor, ill have to wear the heart monitor for a month to see if we can catch an attack on it. so basically i have to wait for it to happen again which im not looking forward to............if it does turn out that i have SVT again, ill have to go back into the hospital for some surgery.

IDK about those, but per the recommendation of some folks on miataturbo.net and some research into CFM and Amperage comparison, I got a pair of 12" fans from siliconeintakes.com. http://www.siliconeintakes.com/product_info.php?cPath=15&products_id=1004&osCsid=d8e96ef1d4565aab42b03fa9c3eaa80a

The price is the same, shipping will be a little more, but these fans flow more air and pull about the same amount of power from the stock wiring system. I'm going to be making a shroud for mine to make sure all the air comes through the radiator and then the fans instead of around them (kinda like Mike's), except mine will probably be out of metal to prevent cracking.

Just in case you want some information...

Stock fans:
Main : 1400 CFM : 6.3A Draw
A/C : 1320 CFM : 5.2A Draw
Total Combined : 2720 CFM : 11.5A Draw

SiliconeIntake Fans
Each : 1600 CFM : 6A Draw
Combined : 3200 CFM : 12A Draw

I found some other 12" fans that had a combined flow of 4000 CFM, but they also drew about 16-20A, so those would definitely overload the stock circuitry.

That is what i am going to look at tomorrow. I really hope I didn't damage the clutch. I know I will need a new one, as I plan to run higher boost in the future but i was hoping to get by on the stocker a little longer. That and it will help the wallet. :)

As for the DP. Yea I run open DP on my talon, but I don't ever remember it being that loud, that or the motor ever being that loud. I did grab my step-dads ear protect for the firing range so I plan figure out the idle and timing tomorrow. Once I get the car drivable I planned to drive the car to some hole in the wall exhaust shop and get it fixed.

I realized when I saw your post on MT, that you either forgot about it or where not 100% sure if there was any real issue. I still am thinking that the downpipe is for a NB8 cause do to the fact that the flange is larger then the stock header. Either way, no one to blame. DIY kits, don't always go as planned.

Damn mother****ing jackasses at work.... Finally got the cash to put my tires on, right? Decide to run the car through the shop like you're supposed to, instead of slipping a guy $20 and getting it done under the radar. Guy that pulls the ticket is *****ing and swearing the whole damn time, so to shut him up I go out to the parking lot, get my car, put it on his lift, help him take the wheels off and bring them back to the machine, and drag out my tires. I tell him exactly how they're supposed to go on, he mouths off at me for explaining something so simple that of course he knows all about.

****er puts two on inside out, then swears at me because I didn't explain things to him. Sonofa*****. So after he's through with his swearing fit in the shop, I just walk away. Done with this ****. They finally go on, car's off the lift, now it's time to wash it. The guy washing it comes in and says, "You know, I really wish somebody told me you didn't have much clearcoat left on your car." ****. ****. The degreaser he sprayed on it has resulted in runs in the paint now, on the lower half of the car. I haven't even seen it yet, I'm afraid to look at it.

But I'm the nice guy, right? I'm supposed to be calm and cheerful and friendly to everyone, and what happens when I do everything by the book? I get chewed out and sworn at for a good fifteen minutes and the paint gets ****ed up on my car. Seriously, what kind of ******* **** is this? I mean, I know the car's been on the road for nine years now, and it's been autocrossed and road-tripped, but I still try to keep it in good shape.

When I worked at Toyota, sales people would bring **** to us to do..most of the time they would bring it right at closing time... so we always ****ed with them by taking forever to finish any work. They were also a bunch of cheapasses

I know when I worked at NTB, if you put a ticket in for your own cars you couldn't work on them. I am not sure why but I had to do a few employee's cars for that reason.

haha.. had I known you were so itching to work on a car I would have offered mine for you to work on today.

I am just praying I can figure out the two little bugs. I got an idea on why its is bogging. A) the spark is weak due to a bad grounding, so I am going to make a new coil pack bracket, since the stocker won't work for me. B) I am getting a lean condition due to 1.6 injectors and a vaccum leak on my manifold, so for this I am going to cap off the PCV and see what happens.

Then I still got to figure out why my tranny is such a B***h to get into gear, but one problem at a time. If it is not one thing it is another. I just hope your motor swap/build goes smoother then mine does Eric.

Been practicing like crazy on the guitar as of late, all four fingers on my left hand (thumbs don't count) have crazy calluses I've been trying to deal with. Whenever I touch something it feels like I dipped my hand in wax first, weird sensation. I do know songs from CCR, Bob Dylan, and the Kingsmen now though, so aces there.

As far as the car goes - If the service manager wasn't here I could have slipped a guy a $20 and had it down off the radar, but the SM was here and I needed the tires put on. Paid for it, expected at least a modicum of being treated like a customer. I was just pissed that this tech, who gets paid to work on cars, was just *****ing nonstop about having to work on mine. No one put a gun to his head to pull my ticket, and it wasn't being done as a favor. It was a paying job. He could have passed it on to someone else if he didn't want it and no one would have been upset.

Washing the car - I just wanted a quick soap and rinse. Nothing crazy. With work and school, I just don't have time to clean it myself whenever it needs it and it was looking pretty dingy. I didn't know about the clearcoat thing, nor about degreaser messing with the paint, so it was kind of a shock when I heard about it. Mostly just one of those "vent your frustrations" kinda posts.

Tires are pretty ******* sweet, although I did have some unintentional dorifto action this morning on my way into work. Cold wet pavement and new tires with tire shine on 'em just don't mix well. Scared the piss out of the RX330 next to me.

I've had one of those moments before. New tires, plus a bit more throttle around a turn than needed = unintentional sideways action.

Oh, and speaking of, driving home in the rain with boost... what an expierence, I actually have to be cautious of using the throttle when wet out. When NA it was just be careful in first gear. Boosted is more like anytime with more than about 45% throttle from 1-3 gear. But add more than that and have a blast... :)

I thought about that some more on my drive home (I often like to think and/or solve problems when driving with the top down, used to do the same when I rode my bikes but I don't care to ride any longer), and possibly have a better solution. Instead of removing the vac line so the FPR sees atmo all the time and thus keeps rail pressure high, perhaps try the old WD40 trick. Reinstall the vac line to the FPR, but cut it in half. Join the line again with a WD40 straw and use zip ties to secure. In theory, this would allow the FPR some adjustability but not the full range, perhaps giving a good balance of drivability, performance, and economy. Give it a shot this week.

you can resent it all you want, but everyone knows that forced induction is where the power is. You maybe able to keep up with a stock mp45 but a well setup FI would smoke your car... but again ITB and FI are two different beast. To fix my issue I need to add more fuel off boost. So I need to either be able to raise the base fuel pressure(which is basically what Ben did, unfortunately it set to the max base fuel) or I need larger injectors. An AFPR would also work. The thing is that I plan to start setting aside some funds from each paycheck from here on out and build an MS so I don't want to dump a lot of money into piggy back fuel systems.

I been sitting here wonder if since my car is being so stupid and having massive lean issues with the stock 1.6 injectors(230cc) that if I were to drop in the 450cc would it work. If I could find some pigtails to make a pnp harness I would totally just try it. stupid low ohm, stopping me from just dropping them in and trying.

cause I can't f**king find any:(...

I am not sure if I can run the rx7 injectors without fuel management but cause the n/a are 440s, but I need to figure something out(it would about the same as trying to run the DSM so if I could find a set of PNP 440s I would give it a shot. I know if I could just find some nice 305 supra injectors I would be totally set. I even logged back into supramania looking for injectors. I hate not having a CC and paypal. Word on the street is that RA races this weekend were a yawn.
Current economic overall factors are hurting club racing....and likely
continue to do so IMHO.
Plus add in the 'iffy' weather this time of year, and 'competing' events at
other venues...longer enduro that some care to run, no ProIT....all equal low turnout.
I think the SCCA Feb event is being dumped.
Likely a good idea, they should probably streamline their schedule.
I know last year saw a steady decline in participants from my perspective.

Yeah the Feb. SCCA event is always small though, like you said a 6 hour enduro, no Pro IT, and just SARRC races just mean no big turnout. However lots of new cars, Friday's test day saw quite a few new cars so it should be a cool season. Randy Pobst was out there as well, Kinetic was running one of their Koni Challenge BMW's as well and Gunner Jeanette was there.

Economy hurting SOME club races, and allowing many more to take the hurt ones spot. I know for many this is the time to get into racing.

w00t!

So a couple weeks ago, one of the supervisors came by and confiscated my flat panel monitor from my desk because they needed to use one.....and they brought it back. No big deal. It's just that like with most companies, they don't buy employees the good stuff for work. Well, about 20min ago, someone dropped off this big HP box at my desk..and it contained...a new 22" flat panel monitor!! This sh!t is nice...and so much easier on my eyes.

So I am starting to turn into Mike for random things breaking.

So I had the whole driveshaft happen, which I believe was from the three tranny-PPF bolts being losse. Ok so mildly my fault.

So yesturday I pulled into the QT by my stoarge unit and hear a nice cluck. Well get out and look under the hood to notice my water pump pulley and ripped it's way off. So after going to Mazmart and getting a new pulley found out the bolts were stripped so I zipped tied...yes I just said that... the pulley on was able to drive to about a mile from my place(total about 4 miles) with it that way before it start to move enought to pop the belt back off. After a nice sit and cool down, I drove the rest of the way via, turn off the car and rolling down hills and pop starting it to go back up hills.

So in the end between asking Kurt and Paul... they both can't remember someone ripping the bolts out of water pump.

I have photos but unfortunately they are on my phone and I don't have a cord here at work.

On a different note, glad the rain didn't start until I was over half way to work. I am still shocked that I am not wet from riding the bike in the rain but hey :D

Hope you all enjoy my lovely ....WTF moments. I know my buddy did as he followed me home.

One of the lights has a weird angle and my car likes to get tail happy there in the rain so I knew I was going to having some new oversteer with the snow. So as I slide through the intersection making my left, the car got nice and sideways and I just waved at the b***h sitting at the light. It was like looking at a deer in head lights as I waved at her while sliding sideways. :D

Actually for us Yanks used to it, thats the worst thing about driving in snowy weather in the south.
Beyond the gub'ment not having the proper equipment to seal with it, the retards out there will stop on hills, go in the ditch, punt you off the road, and do all kinds of idiotic things. I find the other drivers out there to be far scarier then the snow/ice.

When living in TN I had a funny experience with a redneck. I am cruising along in my toytota 4x4 in about 7 -8 inches of white stuff with a rather slippery icy layer underneath, gentle starts, gentle stops, having no real issues when some inbred redneck in a jeep comes roaring up behind me way too fast for the conditions and nearly *** ends me trying to get slowed down. Then this moron stays about 20 ft off my bumper! So I just eased to a stop and stuck my arm out the window and waved the ****** by. He roars around me and heads off down the road.
About a half mile later I come over a rise and around a corner and find inbred fred slammed broadside into another vehicle with both suffering significant damage. I ease around the mayhem and the guy is standing about 10 ft from my open window and I give him a nice big smile & wave. The look on his face was priceless.
