Hell, the pipeline has been at 100% for over a day now, but it took until this evening for the news to pick up on it. Retards.

I heard that the fuel only travels at a speed of about 5 miles per hour, so even though the pipeline is running at 100% at the beginning, it is going to take a while to work it's way up the pipe...

MeFryRice

Your correct. It's 3-5mph and will take a couple weeks for gas to available like it was once before. I'd say by mid-october we should be back to normal! banana

But it was never completely stopped. We have had constant supply, just not 100%. If people will ease off of topping off and riding around searching for gas, we'll be back to normal quite quickly.

id watch saying stuff like that. one time my grandpas brother made some offhand comment like that and 2 days later the secret service showed up at my grandparents house in all black suburbans and took him to one of the garages at my grandparents' place and interrogated him for 3-4 hours. this was looooong before i was born though, it was sometime during the early-mid 80s.

He never said he was going to shoot Bush, just that he deserves it.

The SS does have some software that checks all of the internet for any threat like comments but because he did not say anything threatening to with Bush's name it in, their system shouldn't pick it up as a threat.

JennB
10-01-2008, 12:24 PM
Really?

You think "Kill the president" or "Assassinate Bush" doesn't get typed on the internet 1,000 times a day? People type all kinds of things and they aren't in any way a true threat. People say things especially when debates get heated.

And yeah.. I don't think there is some search program finding everyone who threatens the President and sending agents out to question them.

If your story is true, there is A LOT more to it than just saying something in a conversation.

MeFryRice
10-01-2008, 12:24 PM
Since we're talking about government related stuff...

My had aunt had received a call from someone in the pentagon (I won't discuss what it was in relations to) but when the conversation ended, there were no signs of that call ever being received (no history of it in the caller id of her phone) nor did Sprint have any record of it. (I just called for ****s and giggles). Pretty sneaky bastids! :D

RotorNutFD3S

Oh, it's tracked. Just like phone calls are. If a keyword or key sequence is spoken (or posted), it is flagged and filed for review.

Doppelgänger
10-02-2008, 06:16 AM
I got one then..... Homeland Security is a bunch of sissy government rent-a-cops, a joke at best.

JennB
10-02-2008, 07:01 AM
Someone has to be actively listening to a phone call. There isn't some system that listens to them all, all of the time. I can call someone right now and tell them I have two tons of crack in my backyard and no one will hear it because no one has any reason to listen to my calls.

The government has been known to keep call records of millions of people but the conversations are not recorded. They used the data to find call patterns and keep record of who calls suspected terrorists and other criminals.

RotorNutFD3S
10-02-2008, 08:41 AM
Actually, no live person has to listen to a phone call anymore, be that as crazy as it sounds because of the sheer number of calls made per minute. But it's fact, and I've seen images of the system that does it for the Atlanta metro area for BellSouth landlines. Came from a guest speaker when I was in college for one of my tech classes.
Just as an example, there are sector programs in place that monitor phone calls actively. If a strong keyword, or a sequence of keywords are said, it raises what is called a "red flag". Some of the systems are now so advanced that they can rewind the call so many seconds in time and actually record what was said, consider the threat level, and file the call accordingly, where older systems only flag and file the phone numbers involved. And this is nothing new, the flagging system has been in place since the mid-90s.

MeFryRice
10-02-2008, 08:45 AM
That is true.

JennB
10-02-2008, 08:52 AM
I would be curious to read more about that because I'm not sure how much of it I believe.

It's not that I don't think the government would do it but I know there are laws about phone tapping, I'll have to look up and see if that changed in recent years. You used to have to have a warrant to tap someone's phone and there was a big controversy a few years back with the whole overextension of power to Homeland Security. Also, the amount of storage space that would be needed to store the millions upon millions of phone calls per day as well as the fact that there are hundreds of phone service carriers and thousands of languages and accents used by people in this country, I just don't know if it's possible right now.

I have heard of other countries trying to implement such systems but I would HOPE we still have laws in this country to protect us from such things.

metalman
10-02-2008, 08:58 AM
I dont think most citizens realize the technology that has been developed to encroach on ones privacy and personal freedom. Its common nowdays for some to argue that our constitution does not offer privacy to citizens. Furthermore Fuhrer Bush has seen to it that the rights of citizens have been 'erased' in the name of "security". Sadly stupid citizens think this is all a great idea.

MeFryRice
10-02-2008, 08:59 AM
It's the government, do you actually believe everything they tell us? Even though they tell the public that they don't have the powers, I'm sure they still do it "secretly".

Doppelgänger

I'm going to start saying random threats during phone calls and see what happens

JennB
10-02-2008, 09:07 AM
No, I don't believe the majority of what the government tells us but I am a person of above average intelligence who is not as paranoid as so many people seem to be these days. I do know that a few years ago, our lovely president authorized warrantless phone tapping, I'm not sure if this is still in effect but probably. But, this was in relation to people on their suspect list. Now, the suspect list is huge and includes plenty of people who have done nothing, hell, I used to know someone who was on the "no-fly" list for absolutely no reason.

I know the UK was setting up a system to monitor and record all calls but it's not complete yet and they are much smaller than we are. In the US, there have been plenty of lawsuits about this subject. I know it's been worked on but I have a hard time believing certain aspects of it. I KNOW that our internet activity is stored in a database, if I commit a crime, my IP can be traced to everything I've searched. Google got pretty pissed about this a couple of years ago when it started. I also KNOW that phone records such as phone numbers I call and numbers I receive calls from are stored... and there was a lawsuit about this I believe in 2005 because it violated telecommunications laws.

Palin = owned by Bernhard

http://www.wsbtv.com/entertainment/17606053/detail.html

So Bernhard made a joke that Palin would get gang raped if she ever came to New York City. Well, Bernhard was supposed to speak/entertain at Boston shelter, but got canned from the event for the comment. Bernhard's reply to the comment was
______________________________________________
"In a statement on her Web site, Bernhard said the gang-rape comment was part of a larger piece from her show about "racism, freedom, women's rights, and the extreme views of Gov. Sarah Palin -- a woman who doesn't believe that other women should have the right to choose."

"I certainly wish Gov. Palin no harm -- I'd just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska," she said.

"In no way am I making any sort of joke about crimes against women -- quite the contrary. I'm speaking out about someone who doesn't do enough to protect women," Bernhard also said in a statement Wednesday. "I think if you look at the real issues I'm addressing, my intent becomes clear. I am a die-hard advocate for women's rights, and fully support the work of Rosie's Place."

ouch.

Think of the billions they send out of the country and the billions that are spent on their "education" and healthcare, the millions spent on watching/feeding them in jail, the billions they don't pay in taxes.... it'll make you sick. Hell, go look on www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots and click on every hispanic looking person and tell me why they are in jail, i dare you.

So I was reading that the government is looking to "loosen" the credit to allow people with less then excellent credit to apply for more loans. Apparently they didn't learn from the mortgage issue that has put us in the crisis that we are in today. What makes them think that the people with bad credit are actually going to pay back the loan, let alone on time. Now I understand that some people have bad credit due to personal reasons (lost their job, medical disability, etc) but they need to do their research more.

Doppelgänger
10-09-2008, 09:36 AM
Does the issue happen every night or just some nights? Do you know what model box you have?

As for the credit thing. I know my credit isn't great that the moment, but if someone were looking at my history, they'd see where I got funked up and have since gotten back on track. I wonder exactly what creditors look at.. if they really look at one's history to see if there is one thing that makes it bad or if they just see the score and assume.

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 09:54 AM
To answer your first question, I'm not sure of the model number but can I find out. It doesn't do it every night but when it does, I can count on not watching tv that night. It gets pretty aggravating.

As far as credit, they look at everything. If they see that you've bee paying your bills on time then that shows good but they will still question the history before. If you have credit cards, it's best to keep them under 30% of it's limit if possible.

RotorNutFD3S
10-09-2008, 09:54 AM
I think it depends on the creditor and what you are trying to get. I know I got a full out interview when I got a loan through my bank to purchase the Miata.

RotorNutFD3S

Actually as far as credit cards go, it's tough. Some will tell you differnt things about the balances, but on the other hand, you're graded on potential credit too. Which means that if you have 3 credit cards with low balances and high limits, you could be a problem because of the amount of credit you have available to you.

JennB
10-09-2008, 10:00 AM
It depends on what kind of loan and who you are getting it from.

I've personally financed a house, six cars and I used to work in auto finance. I'm more than a little familiar with credit. Mike, you see what we've done to yours in just the past few months.

Buying a house was a lot of work but I'm so organized that I had everything I needed, just had to get it all together. Buying a car is a breeze. I didn't even fill out an application when I bought the MSM. I think the whole process took 2 phone calls and a 15 minute trip to the bank to sign and pick up the check.

Dammit... I guess I should go to work. The boss has already called despite being at a conference. Oh well, I need to check the mail anyway. I won't be there until 5:30 though.

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 10:01 AM
Yes but at the same time, it also shows good indicating that companies trust you to loan you to allow you to have that high of limit. I know where your coming from though, it depends on who you talk to I guess.

I need to apply for an Amex for work but I really don't want another credit card.

JennB

Actually, it's better to have high limits and low balances. It makes your ratio of debt to available credit lower and shows that you are not into maxxing out cards.

A $10,000 limit with $1,000 balance is far better than a $2,000 limit with a $1,000 balance.

The only reason I mentioned it is because a couple of years ago I wanted to consolidate everything onto one loan and off the credit cards and pay a lower interest rate while paying it off. I was told point blank by the loan officer/manager at the bank that my request was denied because my credit cards had a high limit with too low of balances and I was a high risk because of that. I was confused and actually talked to a few other people (one was Clark Howard, lol) and they confirmed that it's the way a lot of banks and other creditors consider candidates.

When I went to Georgia's Own (aka GeorgiaTelco), I was given a min-interview when I went in. Basically looked at my credit history and asked about a few payments and balances of which I got to explain which made me feel better about the few slip-ups that were on there. I dunno if it had much of an impact though lol

MeFryRice
10-09-2008, 10:13 AM
I try and deal with the same loan officer if possible. They already know your credit history and like you mentioned, it gives you time to explain something if need to be.

As for loans, I always finance through one of my credit unions only cause you get a better interest rate.

I found out not too long ago that BoA had sent me to collections for some reason. I haven't had a transaction with them in 2-yrs and the last time I checked, I had a $15 balance. I called them to find out why I was sent to collections and apparently they have a $5/month maintenance fee which was putting me in the negatives. So instead of them sending me a letter, calling me or even trying to get in contact with me, they'd rather just send me to collections. I'm now having to fight this off and might have to get a lawyer involved to get it removed from my report. This is the ONLY negative i have on my report and I'd like to keep it that way. Ugh, this makes me angry. I only owe them a measly $69 but I won't pay it till I have a signed letter that they agree to remove it.

I had an apartment complex "take me to court" because the other tenants in the shared number damaged something after I moved out and signed the final paperwork. Then they moved out some time later and it went through a joint collections.
Did I get a letter or a call? No. Should have since it went through the county court and sheriff system in Oklahoma, but I didn't hear a word. Found out simply by checking my report. Went through a ton to get it resolved, and they simply labeled it settled on the credit report. Pisses me off till this day, but it will fall off in a year or two, so whatever. Good job on the grade!

7 years apparently. Happened in '03, falls of in '10. It only shows up on Experian, the other 2 agencies have no record of it. Experian said they'd take it off after I overloaded them with evidence that this was not on me, however, when I called back to see why it had not been done, they acted like they had never heard of the person I had been dealing with there. But it's settled, will fall off, and even has a note under it that says I did not recieve communication from the plantiff to begin with.

I called the guy but never got a response. I called on that black one in Pensacola, FL earlier today. Guy is suppose to be sending me pictures again.

Here it is. In Kentucky for $10k. 8k miles on a built engine, lots of $$$ upgrades.

I don't have $10k just laying around and I'm wanting to buy a car I can pay cash with. :D[hr]

Damn man, i've never had a problem getting in touch with sellers...

Must be my luck then. :( I'll give him another call when I get off.

Was just pointing it out...
I thought that if you are calling on an $8500 Miata, you might be able to work out a deal on one that is well-sorted for just a little more since it isn't selling. Not saying the one on CL isn't well-sorted, just seems like the one on m.net has more valuable parts.

So I do believe that I woke up with strep throat or the flu this morning, been progressively getting worse all day, and now I feel like death. Tomorrow morning is going to be fun...

Sorry to hear Eric. I hate being sick.

So, I almost came home with a new FJ Cruiser with the Team Trails offroad package today. They were willing to give me what I wanted for the S2K but I told them I would have to think about it plus I want to finance it through my credit union so I'll give them a call tomorrow.....just a lot of money. :(

I hate it too. And I never get sick.

Yeah, they're a lot of money, but if you can see yourself being happy with it, go for it. Now's the time to get good deals. I'm not a huge fan of the FJ, the outside is a little too funky for me, but then again, not an SUV/truck fan to start with. lol But I do personally know 2 people with them, and they love them.

You just better hurry up and get a Miata, not seeing you driving your own sports car is going to be just plain weird.

I will never drive a minivan. SUV's all the way!

I also cannot stand SUVs. I have no idea why anyone would want one. If I needed a tow vehicle, I would buy an older truck or SUV and use it just for towing or I would just rent one when I needed it. No reason to drive some giant, wasteful beast around all of the time if I don't need it.

i'll get you guys the number... not going to exactly post it up on a public forum
It's not like i've never had one.... just been a couple of years.

Oh, i went to the firing range with Ben on sat. and used his .40 Glocks and the Kal-tec. From 15-20 ft i'm actually a pretty good shot and the paper target man on my garage wall can prove it
(yes, I hung it up in the garage.... figured if anyone ever goes in there without premission would see that and be deturred)

the room next to the one we were in was for rifles/shot guns and someone was using a god damn machine gun. I heard it go off and startd lauging because it was like *pop* *pop* *pop*

*bababababababbabababababba* *pop *pop*

Damn random machine gun out of left field for 5 seconds.

RotorNutFD3S
10-13-2008, 09:32 AM
Yeah, that range is awesome isn't it? You can rent those damn machine guns they have hanging on the wall. Next time I go there with Ben, I'm renting one.

MX5Atlanta Meet at a range, that should be awesome. Imagine it, a line of Miatas show up to a gun range... the looks would be priceless.

I swear, i'll post something and go to the main page and the site clock will be behind like 10 min, so then I have to refresh the page, no biggie.
