View Full Version : ITT: Local Roads you love to drive
This is mine. (Tapp Wood Rd) Its the closest to driving in the mountains around here. has loads of hills, a good straight away and sich. I suggest if you're up this way for road atlanta to hit it, its short but sweet. Coming 85N exit 129, turn right and drive about 5 miles until you come to it on your left just before a hole in the wall BBQ place on your right.

Any local roads near you that you love to drive?

I have lots, one is like the Nurburgring, you catch air on some corners and stuff, really hilly, real sharp hard braking areas, etc.

:clap: Dude, I run this road EVERY time I go to RD ATL! Bust a left on Jackson Trail, and it dumps you right back out onto 53. Short it is, but the Downhill Left is worth the detour!

For you Athens guys!
This is Macedonia Road. When heading down Highway 15 from Watkinsville toward Greensboro, it is the second road on the left after passing the "Iron Horse" (the first road is the Oconee River Boat Ramp.
This little Gem runs from Highway 15 to Highway 77 In Maxeys and is around 9-10 miles of good 2nd-4th sweepers/switchbacks.

Once in Maxey's, Left will take you to Lexington, and another left leads you back to the East Side of Athens. But, I suggest turning around at Hwy. 77 and heading back toward Hwy 15 to run the course backwards:rolleyes:

These are two of my favorites. Windsor Drive and Covered Bridge Road. They are both in the same area so it makes it easy to have fun all at once.

Hey... but then we've had too much traffic on them all. We do the north GA loop a good bit but a couple of years ago, we started taking occasional trips up to NC (not right by the dragon but east of there) and found some fabulous roads. I can't wait to go up to the mountains when I get back. We tend to do a lot of wandering. We just drive and drive and find what we can. I honestly don't even remember the names of a lot of really nice roads we've found.

Mt paran road, pretty fun.
Too goddamn bumpy... there are some BAD pothole on there..but a fun road none the less.
I had a "loop" that was a couple miles long out in Dacula I used to run. It's probably way too populated out there now..but I used to go out on Sunday evenings and run a few laps on it.

this is a fantastic road. a bit of a drive to it, but well worth the time.
and if you're feeling a bit adventurous there are some choice dirt roads off of macedonia in the oconee national forest. gravel is never good for a nice paint job, but who doesn't wish they were a wrc driver?

I have never ventured off...maybe I should invest in the mudguards I have had my eye on and give this a shot:D
