I was planning on going to this, but with the car being down and all won't be able to afford it. I'm going to make one someday though! lol

Mike, would you want to caravan up there?

deerock
09-24-2008, 02:48 PM
i should be down for this, as i missed the last major miata meet, and the fact that my car will hopefully again be one color and on great suspension, so i dont zoom-zoom off the road lol

Gas should have a sharp decrease in price next week so it looks like you'll be able to make it after all! :D

Next weekend seems to have a lot going on, either the CR meet or the Quizno's show with the S2KA crowd...hmm....

Doppelgänger
10-11-2008, 09:30 AM
Yeah, I dunno.....I don't need to be spending the $$$$ on 2 tanks of gas for a day of driving.

metalman

SVRA at Road Atlanta is that weekend too.
Thats likely where I'll be.

If anyone is just going up on Saturday, let me know! I'm looking for an open seat. :)

RotorNutFD3S
10-15-2008, 09:50 AM
So who all from here is actually going up for just Saturday? I don't need a ride anymore, just want to know who is going so we can convoy and such. :)

Jenn and I are NOT going this year. But if anyone else is interested in Sa. events, there is a FREE airshow at Dobbins AFB.

MeFryRice
10-15-2008, 10:00 AM
I want to go badly but we'll have to see what are schedule is like for this weekend.

Sawyer
10-15-2008, 10:14 AM
I want to go too. And with gas getting cheaper it's making it more of a possibility!
We can talk it over during lunch!

MeFryRice

okie dokie.

JennB
10-20-2008, 09:31 AM
I'm glad we skipped out and went to the air show instead. It was great.

Also, I'm just pissy about seeing that kid on CR post pics of himself on the wrong side of the road and say "oh, it was a back road and I was doing like 20". Yeah.. so? I've been to the Dragon and that area about 20 times.... I've also been about a foot away from a head on collision once and about 2 or 3 feet away from them a few other times. You have no idea how fast a bike or some moron driving a camper or big truck can come around a turn and make you think twice about your life.

I probably won't go back up to that area until next year... I'm tired of the way law enforcement treats people up there and I've seen everything in the area a million times. I'm all for heading up to NC (parkway area) for some driving though, we always have a good time up there.

How about you stop by MazMart instead.

RotorNutFD3S
10-20-2008, 01:07 PM
What a doofus. Driving in the other lane just really is not safe, period. End of story. Or if you're Mike, End of Line.

Doppelgänger
10-21-2008, 06:32 AM
lulz

I get into a moment with someone on CR lastnight because appearantly my car's ride height is "high as ****" and it's now an insult to say "that car sit about as high as Badger's"

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 07:05 AM
Really? That's ghey?
Oh sorry, I forgot, you're not low enough to scrape your frame rails on the reflectors in the road... Morons.

JennB
10-21-2008, 07:41 AM
I cannot believe the childish BS I read on that site. And Mike, you are certainly not taking the high road on this one. I've barely been on that site for months and I plan on keeping it that way. It's people like the people who post on that forum that make me not so interested in owning a Miata at times.

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 07:50 AM
I have noticed the maturity level is decreased with Miata owners compared to S2K's. (Not saying that all S2K owners are mature).

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 07:52 AM
What I've been finding a real deterrent from going there lately is the sudden influx of a ton of noobs that constantly bash, argue, and bicker amongst one another in some threads, and then stroke each other's egos in other threads.

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 07:54 AM
Maybe I should become more active on that board but be that "*******" that everyone hates.

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 07:57 AM
Yeah, Mike did that for a while, it was great.

I have noticed the maturity level is decreased with Miata owners compared to S2K's. (Not saying that all S2K owners are mature).

S2K ownership comes with a completely different attitude for the most part, and it's pretty immature too. I call it ******ry, but I really think that most S2K owners I've encountered are stuck up a-holes that are pissed off because they bought an overpriced Honda, but at the same time think that their car is God's gift to the automotive world because of it's awesome power to weight ratio. But there's an attitude and maturity level for every group, ya know?

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 08:01 AM
True. When I was on Bf.c (Bimmerforums), you had your typical douschecocks that thought they were badass for having a stupid BMW, even though it was just a '93 318i. Sometimes, I wish I wasn't on any of the boards at all.

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 08:08 AM
Yeah, that's why I really like it here. For the most part, it's pretty calm and laid back.

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 08:13 AM
And I think the fact that everyone knows eachother on a more personal basis instead of communicating to some random guy in BFE.

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 08:14 AM
I just figured it out, navigating CR is like going through a corn maze...

JennB
10-21-2008, 08:37 AM
But a really cheap corn maze with a lot of dead end rows and random cow poop on the ground.

metalman
10-21-2008, 08:44 AM
Mike, you are certainly not taking the high road on this one.

What fun is the high road?:lol:

JennB
10-21-2008, 08:48 AM
It keeps your girlfriend from getting really mad and sick and tired of you sitting on the internet for 3 hours every night instead of doing the countless other things that are more important in life.

metalman
10-21-2008, 08:50 AM

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 09:25 AM
Hahaha! My g/f only gets mad when I'm on the forums and she wants me to spend time with her.

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 09:26 AM
I usually don't get on at night, just during the day.

JennB
10-21-2008, 09:36 AM
I don't get mad about not spending time, we live together and see each other every day no matter what. It's about priorities and the importance of arguing with morons that are 1000 miles away. I don't care what those people do or what those people think and I don't want to waste my energy and time on them. Mike knows and has always known exactly how I feel about this.

I always think about that very un-p.c. photoshop from a few years ago.... "Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics...."

MeFryRice
10-21-2008, 09:40 AM
I do it only for the humor but very rarely do I waste the time to do so. My day is busy as it is, I'm not going to waste useful time on other people i could give two ****s about.

RotorNutFD3S
10-21-2008, 09:48 AM
... even if you win, you're still retarded."

10-21-2008, 10:07 AM
For the record, I love my bf to death. We just have vastly different views on the internet and we both are well aware of it.

This is how I kill time at work. I work really fast and my job has a lot of reeeeeally busy times followed by hours or even days when I really don't have much to do. I've been with this company in one way or another for 5.5 years, I have it down to a science. Anyway, I think of the internet as something to do in spare time, a way to find people, places and things that I think are interesting or relevant to my real life but I would MUCH rather communicate with people face to face or use the internet to set up an event or meet in real life. I cannot stand just wandering the internet for hours and hours doing nothing. If I'm that bored, I'll find something else to do. IMO, real life is not on a screen. When I'm 75 years old I certainly won't look back and say "wow, I wish I had posted more on club roadster".

Internet = much of my living. :)
So, its rather important to me.

As for forums, heres my take...

cr.net began as a site for people who masturbate to road&ster...and idolize all things japanese...which is kind of a silly ****ed up concept to begin with IMHO. It has grown into something a bit more then that. That being said, I find less then 10% of it useful. There are some cool people/ideas there...and LOTS of ****ed up ones too. The cali retardation is second to none....well except maybe roadsterdrift. ...and the moderation isnt really that much different from m.net.

mt.net began as a site for hardcore greddy self proclaimed know it alls who enjoy flaming & banning newbies....also a ****ed up concept....except for the turbo part. :D It has become more civil...yes, believe it or not. It used to be 'worse'. There is much info there for the DIY FI folks...as long as you dont ask dumb questions and do a search.

miata.net is far and away the grandfather of all miata related internet forums. Without it the others probably wouldnt exist as it was the meeting
place that spawned them.
Many of the mods (not all) are *******s, and sadly many of the primary posters are ****heads. IMHO the owner sets the tone. However, mixed in among them are some extremely bright & polite folks with a wealth of Miata knowledge. To be honest, if I took the combined total benefit to me of all other forums that total would be minuscule compared to m.net. By 'benefit' I mean the friends I have made, the information I have learned, and the $$ I have made from Miata related things etc. That being said, I rarely post there anymore. I get tired of the 'input' from the same old retards. It still takes the cake though when I want to know how to fix something. That remains far and away the best place to research it.

If there is a Miata related forum chances are I am a member....whether I post or not.

Bottom line...all forums/gatherings have retards...you just have to seek out those there you can identify with and benefit from knowing....and for me those people exist on every forum, even IA ...to varying degrees. :)

Perhaps Jenn may be related to my wife.

Its all good. ;)
I have been with the same woman for 31 yrs....yeah, longer then the average age here. haha...
If we had no conflicts life would be really boring.....PLUS that would require one of us to have our brain removed.
She likes the Hell&GarbageTV and I like Speed channel or History channel...or Discovery...and sometimes PBS....so what can I say. haha..

On a side note...I think maybe the wife already had the lobotomy. Her ability to watch HGTV for hours indicates that! hahaha...I can say this because she doesnt read internet forums and will never see this.....and I am j/k anyway. banana

Ugh.
I am gone at least 12 hours per day, sometimes more. When I leave, Deborah is either asleep or on the laptop. When I get home, she's on the laptop. When I'm trying to go to sleep, she's on the laptop.

I have no desire to go out regularly on weeknights, but I can't stand how the housework piles up all week, killing my weekend, while all the time she's playing on the friggin computer.

So a couple months ago, I told her I wasn't mowing the lawn anymore. And if she wanted it done, then she could do it while I slept on the couch. She mowed the lawn. I slept on the couch. Genius. :)

We took down wallpaper and now it needs to be sanded and then the edges touched up like around where the tile meets the wall. And then paint.

Oh yes... on the Club Roadster topic... hm.... well I won't be having a CR meet at my house. How's that? Oh, and if you have some uber low, so-cal Miata... you can't get in my driveway so HA!
