My grandmother gave this to me as a car for college back in october. When I first got it, I changed the oil, fuel filter, Spark plugs, wires, valve cover gasket. It had brand new tires when I got it. Had it over a year now. Been alot of work, but I do love the car. I do hate the open dif.

This was my grandfather's car. He died of cancer. He loved this car so much that he was cremated and his ashes were driven to the cemetary in this car with the top Down. License plate will say 4Guy.
Slowly getting it how I wanted. Almost done with so called "performance" parts. leaving it n-a and slow for a while atleast. Still gotta do exaust and an intake. After that I will begin working on the looks.

This Weekend I am doing Exintake Mod, advancing the timing, and getting a header. If i get the money, I'll also be fabbing up a cold side intake. yeahh, I wanted to get rid of it at first, but I've decided to build it for him. As I finish things, I will make a Mod- list for things completed and take them out of the Plans list

Completed exintake mod today. Only troubles were a bolt snapping off in the cam cap bracket and I had a few problems with the timing belt. I can def feel a difference and my idle didnt really change at all. header and timing next week hopefully.

Got the header on today. Thing was a B!#$$. Stock stuff didnt come off easy, then had to lift the motor.lol. Think I have an exaust leak at the header to cat, but thats b-c it only has one bolt right now, the 2nd was giving me trouble and I decided it'd be a job for another day. still have yet to advance my timing. Keep forgetting. Thinking of gutting my cat and putting a vibrant muffler on it. idk yet.

Coming from someone who is gutted and daily drives it i wouldn't recommend doing it. You really have to be hard nosed to live with it. And would you leave the radio and HVAC in? Also loud exhaust in a gutted car, which is how mine is, can get very old going down the road...again it takes alot to live with it.

Radio yes, well, I just bought an alpine cd player to put in it actually. What is HVAC? Yeah, had my doubts about gutting it. I have stock exaust for now. Having exaust done this summer.
Nice!
I did a the cat-delete pipe and my car lost all its baws. Put a Magnaflow cat on it and it gave its baws back. I personally don't thinks its worth removing the cat on a N/A engine.

Yeah, looking to do a high flow cat or test pipe. Need to heat wrap my header. Header goes out so far that it touches the steering rack(I guess thats what you call it). Need to heat wrap it to A. seperate it. B. To cool off under the hood a bit.

HVAC= heating an a/c. I wish i had my radio in still but the head unit didn't work quite right and I'm looking to find another daily driver as my car moves more towards a weekend/track/ITsomethin car.

Well, the current header doesnt fit quite right. It touches the steering bar and rattles and I can only get one bolt in the header to cat, so I just bought a brospeed header with heatsheild off a guy on here. Looking to buy either a u bend intake(can get the ebay version for 90 shipped.) or the extended intake to the corner but I dont know how much that costs or where to get it from.

What brand header is the one that would not fit properly?

I dont know, I got it from stefan, it had been broken and my friend welded it back together. it'll be up for sale cheap once I get the new header put on. lol

Got the brospeed header put on(god thats a PITA). Still dont have exaust done, so didnt really gain anything from it. Old header is up for sale for 60. Pretty sure I stripped out one of the holes in the block to attack the header, but its attached well. Replaced both the exaust manifold gasket and the header to cat gasket. Sounds like I still have a tiny exaust leak, not too worried about it to be honest, lol.

i was gonna do the brospeed one, but then i got a killer deal on a Racing Beat one so i jumped on that. i was also considering the ex-intake mod, but i think i might just do HKS cams, im finding killer deals on those too lol.
much respect on the reason for the build.

The brospeed header wasnt too exp. Ex-intake mod cost me around 70 bucks. Aint got 500-600 bucks for cams.lol Just trying to get what I can out of it for n-a. I'll turbo or motor swap after college.

Got a new top this weekend. Have a bad oil leak, gonna try to find it soon
FlipKing

Well, fixed one exaust leak, and have another one.lol. I have an exaust leak at the header to block, but thats because I have to tap and die one of the studs I'm fairly sure. New top and rain rail working great. Just decided to snaps some pics. New pics on OP and this one

Havent done much, OEM spoiler this weekend, radiator, front main seal, timing belt, thermostat, water pump, valve cover and CAS gaskets in about another week and a half. That'll take care of my oil leaks, then I just have the exaust leak. Spoiler should look good

:o hey guys, i've been looking all over, but what is an "Ex-Intake mod?"
FlipKing
06-19-2009, 10:12 PM
lol, 100 dollar camera wont get much better. I got friend better with cameras but I suck at em. ex-intake mod is when you put an exaust cam in your intake cam spot

Just did waterpump, thermostat, timing belt, crank seal, cam seals, valve cover gasket and a cas o-ring. Changing radiators soon. Having an issue with it trying to run hot, but shouldnt take too long to fix.
FlipKing

I believe the running hot issue was a air bubble in the system. I seem to have fixed it

Well, had all that work done, and my rings went....quickly. Swapping in a motor soon. Ima be so broke

96 motor, 71k miles, then a hose busted, replaced, then the radiator was bad, so replaced with a used all metal radiator. This car is on its last leg with me. Might sell soon.

10-07-2009, 08:26 PM
Well, still have. Lol I have some ebay coilovers to drop it a bit. Not too much though. I deal with too many speed bumps. lol I also put the stock intake back on. Feels better.

Several offers, but I never can quite pull the trigger. Who knows, maybe I am meant to keep this car. I do love to drive it. In the next month or so I plan on having my own little tech day and putting the coil overs on, new brake pads, and a new clutch, Exedy OEM. Also need to find a drop in K&N filter for the stock intake.

Hmm, Havent updated this in a while. Picking up a exhaust and an aftermarket cat this weekend. Dual tip borla catback :) Pretty excited about that
FlipKing

Aftermarket highflow cat, borla exhaust, and the new exedy clutch is now installed. Was a PITA but got it all done. Still need to so some work on the hole for the 2nd tip, but all in all not bad. Still have 350 miles of babying to go.lol Pretty much done with all of the "power mods". Have all bolt ons on unless I decide to go with a real intake eventually. Now time to get some wheels and suspension.
