After a couple years of downtown Atlanta abusing my suspension, I'm thinking it's time to get my coilovers rebuilt. I've never assembled or disassembled a complete unit, and I'm not exactly sure what type of servicing needs to be done to the shocks. I'm thinking about just having them do a complete "overhaul" of each damper as offered by Tein. What would you all recommend?

Disassembling the SS is no different than disassembling a stock shock. It's not hard, so don't prevent that from stopping you or paying Tein to do it.

If you like your ride heights, I suggest measuring the distance from the bottom shock mount to spring perch for each, and keeping notes. Then lower spring perch to the bottom, and the assemblies come apart by removing (1) 14mm nut then (1) 17mm nut. It will be very obvious. The entire top hat assembly consists of the top hat itself, 2 washers, and 2 bushings. Retain all of those pieces, the nuts, and the springs. Then you can take the shocks to the Tein service center in Norcross.

It's so cool having the service center somewhere so close - doesn't seem right!

Yeah, I'm probably going to be taking mine over there sometime this year when I put the Miata on stands for some long-needed TLC.
