Actually, Civics are not bad platforms. Reliable, fuel efficient, etc. The Si is overpriced as hell, but it's a Civic.

well, im speaking of later model GTs. my logic is nowhere near flawed. non-SI civics suck balls, as well as non-v8 mustangs, as well as lecars, 325's compared to m3's, and pretty much any other car you wanna talk about that has some sort of motorsports or performance-oriented variant. remember the v6SHO ford tauruses? the base model ones are HORRIBLE cars, but the SHO could walk mustang GTs.

the fact that nobody can even repsect the car for what it is really irks me though. ugly, yes. IMO it looks kinda cool because its VERY different, but that is my opinion and if someone else thinks its ugly, thats fine. but it would out perform any car on this site by a LARGE margin, all while doing it with eccentric european style. how can you not respect that?

Alright, so Jesse, even later model Mustangs, the GT variant is always designed first, the inferior V6 models come afterward. Non-Si Civic suck as far as performance, but not as an economy car which is what the LeCar/R5/R5 Turbo started it's life as. The SHO also shared the same issues with the Taurus, the only difference is the engine we built at Yamaha that went in it. But you have a point, there are always inferior models. But my point is, when the shared platform has a problem, not the parts that distinguish each car from one another, the WHOLE line shares that problem, and 99.9% of the time that will be the case.

But I'm guessing you missed my first post about the car that this thread started with. I have plenty of respect for the car and what it can do, but I also realize it's flaws, and stated I don't like it and I could spend my money in a better fashion IMO. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to that. But because of some screwed up logic, that makes me stupid, a non-car enthusiast, etc.

And outperform any car on here leaves some open ends... in a straight line, I know a bunch of cars on here that would make it cry and fall apart. On a dirt road, maybe one or two still, because not all cars on here are Miatas. ;)

and the r5t really has very little in common with any other renault car. it was a homologation model, which basically means its a race car, toned down and legalized for street use.

I don't care if you don't like it, think it's ugly, etc. But saying it's a POS and has poor performance is just dumb. Plus in my experience Miata owners always seemed kind of cool because hey, we are driving ****** cars. So I guess we like different then regular.

As for evidence, there is none to prove whatever you are proving. Renault wanted a Group B car, made an R5 race car, had to make street examples, here came the R5 turbo. Hell look at the mid engined Clio they have, there is a FWD front engine one too, race series where there must be a street example to me have always been awesome because you get some insane cars on the street that make driving one of the race cars on the street a reality almost. I was sticking up for the LeCar and such as it did have a nice racing background despite it's "crappy" reliability. The LeCar race car I spoke of wasn't a full blown race car either.

I started off laughing, redrumracer knows me personally and I always mess with him. Your initial post wasn't even bad. But it escalated quickly, like saying it sucks, "too damn funny" all those smart *** replies obviously is you looking to start e-drama. Which is fun to me lol, because at 2:30am there isn't much else to do.

Right, and there's the core issue, not everyone is on here to joke around all the time and there's a way to joke with people that won't cause that knee-jerk reaction. Just because you understand that he wasn't saying that in any sort of serious manner doesn't mean everyone else sees it that way. So now you know how it feels to have such a comment directed at you out of the blue. I can say stuff like that to Ben, or Steve or Eric all day, and because of how much I know them on a personal level, they know how not serious i'm being. But if I direct such a comment toward someone who I don't know very well at all or have had a tiff with on a forum, then the tone is completely different. I'm not one to hold grudges believe it or not. But if people are constantly being told to tone things down and they just constantly claim it's 'joking around' , it should be very obvious to that person that they need to step back and think about how others are taking it. I can't even start to begin on the PMs i've had with many other members on here about the constant barrage of comments..it's not just us "pack" that has the problems with some of the content that has been being posted.

And that's exactly what I was aiming for. You didn't know exactly how I was directing that. The recurring theme here is that no matter how "dumb" someone thinks their own comment is, not everyone thinks that way. You can't just expect people to swollow your point of view and tell someone to not get offended when they see things completely differently..it's just not possible and only creates more friction, it's a complete lack of respect for others. Hell, someone found my signature rather offending and I was PM'ed about it. Rather then telling said person to simply get over it because it's harmless and they need to learn to take a joke from a show that gets played on t.v., I politely changed it to something else out of respect for those involved. It's the same thing as people not finding certain posts funny on here.

No, I wasn't pointing a single finger at you. I'm actually not really pointing a finger at anyone in particular and i'm certainly not sayin i'm completely innocent of making comments either (I can dish it right out too). I will say from other's views, your seen as an instigator in some cases...which has influanced how some other people have been posting on here. If someone has to even take a fraction of a second to think if something they are about to type could rub someone the wrong way, then just don't post it...and this goes for everyone. Yeah it's "just a internet forum", but the big difference is that most of us know eachother on a face-to-face level..which does change things...it's not like that sh!thole aka IdiotsAnonymous where there is such anonymity that no one cares. the r5t has a VERY awarded racing history, very outstandin performance even by todays standards, was made in extremely low production numbers and was only mass produced in the first place to meet homologation rules put in place by the fia. you might as well say the shelby cobra or the e30 m3 evo arent enthusiast cars... which would be silly.

the cars you listed are also enthusiast cars. maybe not as much the crx, but i think it still counts.

The Clio V6 is a sweet car. Reminds me of the VW R32

As for the R5 turbo, I can respect its rarity but as been pointed out the issues with its platform just kills it for me. Reminds me of the DSM where the AWD turbos were bad *** but they were doomed from the start.
