They should cut the 370Z, into 5 pieces, throw away the design, everything that makes it, and pay for every picture of it to be burnt.
The car is SO ugly I lol'd when I saw it, absolutely hideous. Glad someone likes it though lol.

I agree. I 'experienced' a 350Z and that killed any interest I had in that car.
The truck like door handles and horrible styling are just icing on the polished turd cake.

im not gonna lie, I hate all z's pre 1990. 300z is hot, so is the 350z. I like the 370z too. I think nissan is over thinking the transmissions tho

I guess they are making up for the transmissions they made in the 70's.

Or for the **** box that is the GT-R tranny.
But back to the 370Z, I dunno what about it looks so good to me, but I REALLY like it. You know what else I like?
$34,000 with Sport Package (4-piston brakes w/14" front rotors, 19"x9"/19"x10" forged Rays wheels, 245s front/275s rear, LSD).
4.7s 0-60mph, 13.3s@105.7mph 1/4mi, .99g lateral acceleration, 18/26mpg. 101' 60-0mph.
Beat the BMW 135i (twin turbo I6) in recent comparison.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8Po7XrQYIE
WAY better interior than 350Z (wasn't too hard to do), relocated rear strut bar to make trunk usable.
Shorter, wider, and lighter than 350Z, with more power. Finally, it has a 19gal tank (almost a 500mi range).

I like it from an outside standpoint. Would like to drive one and see what I think after that. I drove a 350Z for 2 weeks and hated it. Had ok power, but whoever designed the interior, especially the doors, needed to be fired.

my favorite was the 90-96 style 300ZX.
they looked sharp
my driveway currently has 1 Altima and 1 Sentra
they are great reliable cars

IDK? If it doesn't have a true manual, I won't drive it. Well, if it's a Nissan, there are a few Italian cars I make an exception for. lol

Volvo Geartronics are fun
they just can't handle it if you're an under 25 year old driver lol
GM4T65E, same tranny thats in the Grand Pricks, and Gran Damns.
Mine was a 4 speed and i loved it, but it didnt love me back once i got my ECU reflashed
FlipKing
02-09-2009, 11:56 PM
Yes it does. Like I said, Nissan has had tranny problems for a while now. B13 trannies were known to be bad. As such, the b13 being rare, its hard as hell to find a good tranny for one. But all in all, Nissan does fairly good work. They are just over thinking the tranny.

A very close friend of mine owned a successful used car dealership.
He actually quit buying Nissans. Any of them.
Reason, abnormal rate of electrical/mechanical issues....especially transmissions.
The 350Z I experienced had various electrical issues, suspension issues, and some nasty sounds coming from trans/drivetrain. It started out that way when brand new...and got worse.
I would own an early 90s SE-R though. I like those. Light and nimble. Still have ****ty trannys though.
simontibbett
02-10-2009, 12:03 AM
Yeah it automatically heel and toe downshifts, which I do every turn on the street everywhere, I wouldn't know how to drive it lol.
I am the same way, I like the feel of Ferrari paddle shifters and such. They feel raw and hardcore.
As for Nissan issues, I had a short stint in the 240 world, and I will never own one again. I have never seen so many stupid electrical issues. The engines themselves were rocks, but everything else sucked.

It's called synchrorevmatch. And yeah, it seems a little dumb. I wonder if there's a way to disable it (it's all electronic, since the throttles are drive-by-wire).
I was driving Nissans from 03-08. I had a Spec V, then a 240. The 240 never had an electrical problem. I swapped in an SR myself, and did all the wiring. It never let me down for the 3 years I drove it, and I put a LOT of miles on it. I went down to Fl in it probably 6 or 7 times. Deal's Gap once. A bunch of drag racing, an autoX, and 3 years of abusive daily driving. The chassis had over 200,000mi on it when I sold it.
The SpecV was great for about 80,000mi. Then the ECU ate itself. It was covered under my extended warranty though, so no big deal. Otherwise it was flawless as well. The ECU crapped out because of some foam lining they used. Over time the foam deteriorated and released sulfur gasses that corroded the innards of the ECU. Weird. That car was assembled in Mexico though. Bad news.
The parts content sticker on the 370Z said "100% Japan."

Mike, Jenn, LB and I stopped by the Nissan dealership one night on the way home to see the 370Z, I have to say, in person, it's pretty damn disgusting looking.
simontibbett
02-10-2009, 09:55 AM
Yeah I saw it at the dealer too. There was a little throw up on it when I left.
And ^ as for your 240 being reliable, seems like you are all alone and had a special car.

Toyota sales are down 35% here and Lexus is down 30% so some future cutbacks from them wouldnt be surprising either. I dont think any automaker is immuned from the financial issues facing us.

BUT BMW M's made a 50% increase in sales in America in 2008. It was their 2nd best year ever.

business....and BMW sales have fallen substantially.

So what, seperate division just saying they did good. Not really ONE model either. They sell M stuff for every BMW almost.
And hey Mazda is still racing and bigger then ever this year. As well as a ton of new teams.

No, it'd be like saying GM sold 50% more Corvettes in 2008 and made it their second best year ever for that car....

But none of that is in context with your initial claim that BMW is immuned from sales decreases and the current financial situation. In fact they are NOT.

Wait for TATA to own America.
As for stupid riced out Civics, that makes no sense. A stock Civic walks a Miata lol. Civics are reliable, cheap on parts, good gas, can be made fast, etc. Not only kids buy Civics.
And of course BMW isn't immune do you take everything said on the internet seriously?
