Over the SIC race weekend the MTX-L in my ITA died.

Looking on Innovate's forums there's been many complaints of the MTX-L failing on people due to an E8 code, but that wasn't my case.

There are some posts about it working until the next time you crank the car, and then the gauge is simply dead. No error, no issues before hand. That appears to be my case.

Checking power and ground for the device shows that they appear to be good. The inline fuse is not blown and shows no sign of being stressed. The car has run several events this season with no hiccups from the MTX-L. I drove it down Sunday morning before the race for it's annual tech and the gauge was working. I cranked it up to drive back to the pits and noticed the gauge was no longer operating. Since that time it has not worked once.

With no error codes, what appears to be good power and ground to the device, and no response I'm looking to see if you have had any other issues like this from other customers or if you have something I could try to test it.

Sorry to hear.

E-8 is generally caused by abusing the sensor, either from cold starting on an already heated sensor or by putting the sensor too close to the engine.

I think I've heard of maybe 1 customer having a problem with their MTX-L. They seem to be much more trouble free than the LC-1.

Innovate warranties their gear, and they are really good about taking care of people. If it's out of warranty, they'll still repair it for cheap (they have a small flat fee of something like $35 for out of warranty repair).

You can set up a repair directly with innovate through their site:

Thanks Ben.

I'm just a little concerned because very, very few of the threads in the Innovate forums with people asking about these issues were getting responses from Innovate. There are several threads.

There was a thread about the lack of responses in other threads, a thread about poor phone support, and a thread about sending your product off to be repaired and not getting good communication from them about the repairs.

Are these common issues, or flukes?

Innovate doesn't do the best job at keeping an eye on their forums. But the do a good job at email and phone support in our experience; only time we've run into problems is when we sent email to a specific guy and he turned out to be on vacation. Sometimes you won't get too much information on WHY something broke - but they're good at getting it fixed when it does.
