When i put my car on the insurance policy i gave them the VIN, but she had no clue which one it was, nor did I. She named these and like 3 other models.
I called Jim Ellis Mazda and the dipsh*t was like "well you got yurself the botton line of them miatuhs" so i have no clue???

Hahah, I have the "C" edition is all I know. Leather interior, headrest speakers, power windows

IIRC, pretty much top of the line except for the Special Editions, such as the Shinsen, and they're only better if you considered "limited" better. You have all the power options, better suspension and brakes, etc.

but the more power options the more probability of malfunctions lol.
my next mission is to get rid of this cheap azz R-Speed Intake
it has a friggin sponge filter. i know it didnt come on the car from the factory
plastic tubing, and nothing holding the filter up, it rests fender hump under the dood

 Thought it was pretty talented to keep a guy under your hood.

And honestly, the issue that seems to come up the most with regard to power options is the window switch not working anymore, and usually that's fixed by cleaning the contacts. Other than that, you just have to worry about the extra weight. :D

All of 1 lbs total... Honestly for the convenience of not being stabbed in the knee by the manual window handle, I'll take the weight 'penalty' in the car and just take a duce before my runs HAHAHA

It sounds like you didn't get the full kit OR it was installed in the Ghetto - or someone stole or sold the most important part of it - the shroud that shields engine heat from the filter itself when the hood is closed and provides the mount for the airflow valve. I have the same intake kit I bought from Rspeed and none of it rests anywhere wierd. The UNI filter is simply a larger version of filters popularly used by sport motorbike riders... I put a brand new Uni on my car this past Saturday at the meet.

well damn, i wasnt invited as a member till Sunday. i can take a pic tomorrow and upload it, and we can go from there...as far as seeing what i need. im thinking of just dropping the $200 for a new K&N intake, plus its matching red yeet yeet (not trying to be a ricer)

I like the red K&N too - almost ebayed it the same day I ebayed the Rspeed - someone around here took a pic of my engine bay from the filter side Saturday - maybe they can post it? I think it would be the before pic with the 18 month old filter.

So you have a 2003 with 6 spd, appearance package, BOSE and a black leather interior?

You sir have a LS model.

According to the 2003 Brocure I have, the LS came standard with all of those goodies (like all LS Miatas). But the strange thing for 2003 was that the classic red LS had black leather and black top rather than the typical tan interior/top of other color LS models.

IIRC 01 and 02 sport had the bigger brakes and they became standard on 03-05 cars (01 02 SE and Sport had bigger brakes than standard Miatas).
Have you looked at your suspension yet? Are the shocks black or yellow?

i may come off as ignorant on miatas, but i do know cars lol. they're Bilstein, the same as i had on the swedish stallion. by chance could/can rollbars be ordered from the factory? different colour rims as well?

Was totally kidding.

"Jeffrey, this is Maude Lebowski. I need to see you. I'm the one who took your rug."

Mike, I compared his car to Kris', which is a Sport, and they were the same. *edit* He posted he has Bilsteins...

I don't know of any rollbars or other rims than standard coming from the factory. All aftermarket there.

yes i remember seein Kris's around Newnan. some goofy kid named scott came to my house wanting to buy my rollbar, apparently for the Kris guy. white is my favorite color, but got mine at the SUPER SLASHER SALE!
lol then southtowne never did emissions so i made em replace the 02 censors, no more CEL :)

Yeah. Kris is GVfanatic on here. He's been trying to get a rollbar for a while. From what I understand, Scott came out on Kris' behalf to see if you wanted it in the car still (plenty of people buy a Miata and then take it out). So that's the reasoning there.

however i do love the BOV effect it makes...i think it looks cheap as hell and want the K&N when i get money

how can an air intake on an NA engine cause a 'BOV effect'?

This one I've gotta hear lol

scandmx5
02-05-2009, 04:32 PM
idk but it does...when my A/C is on and i shift you hear a loud "pssshhh" i actually had several people ask me about it before. the only conclusion we came to was the intake, bc a stock air filter and intake don't do that. but out of your snideness i highly doubt you believe it so i'll gladly let you hear it at the next meet or tech outing.

amaff
02-05-2009, 04:34 PM
I mean if you say it does it then it likely does it... but it doesn't make any sense. I've had air intakes on a bunch of cars and, while you got a lot more nose through the intake side of the engine / head, I never got anything that sounded anything like a BOV when I shifted lol

scandmx5
02-05-2009, 04:35 PM
its not extremely loud, but my neighbor heard it, and some kid in newnan with a wrx asked was it boosted when they heard it. when the a/c is off...nothing
**edit** it also starts chirping/psshhhing when i hit over 105mph or so

So according to the brochure, 6spd was only available on the LS, but you could add a sport suspension to the LS. And the BOSE radio was not available as an option on the standard Miata, just the LS

So Kris's car has black cloth interior and BOSE/6spd/sport suspension?

here is the page for the 2003 Miata brochure I got the above information from
http://www.miata.net/faq/brochures/2003/2003_miata_brochure.pdf

I think that must have been a primitive CAI kit from Rspeed - maybe even back before NBs were out ??

OK, so judging by that brochure, there was no Sport package period. The Club Sport yeah, but that's the one that Ben posted, and this car is definitely not that. And no, Kris has the tan leater interior. So going by this, they both have LS packages with the upgraded suspension and appearance packages, and Kris for sure has the convenience package.

MeFryRice
02-06-2009, 08:47 AM

RotorNutFD3S

Yup. And I'm going to tell him to find a remote for the keyless system.

Doppelgänger
02-06-2009, 09:01 AM
Yeah, the pure white LS only came with tan leather....and the red had no option for tan interior. Oh and the 6-spd was only an option on the LS, and not available on a "regualr" miata at all...which makes all 6spd Miatas an LS (or SE/MSM, but those are obvious).

RotorNutFD3S
02-06-2009, 09:08 AM
Yeah, I could have sworn there was a "Sport" model, but I guess it's just the Club Sport or an LS with Sport Suspension. Oh well. Learn something new every day. :)

Doppelgänger
02-06-2009, 09:43 AM
Well, technically, you can add the sport suspension to a regular Miata 5spd....and I guess people call that a "sport package".
