used to be, before my knee injury. have had lots of bikes, both cruisers and sport bikes. including a super trick GSXR 750 that sported some goodies from a friend who used to have a Suzuki factory ride.
my silver miata was quicker than my brother's R6. :)

I got a 1992 Suzuki GSX-R1100 that I bought new. It has less than 8000 miles on it. It dynoed at 135whp.

I had an '82 KZ 750 Spectre for a while. 9000 orig. miles, it was nice. Sold it for Miata parts...

Really looking to get a cheap project bike to work on this summer. An old Honda CB or another KZ.

dammit i wish my miata would do that! haha and if they go on dirt I'm all for it! I would love streetbike but i dont think i posses the maturity to not screw around on it. I'll stunt ride on street one day.
on a related note, as my friend and I were leaving the tech day, after we turned onto the main road, a guy on a sport bike flew by doing a wheelie

Though that is stunt riding its not what i really mean. I like doing slow technical riding. Idle wheelies and such or wheelie in a small circle(cant do it) thats my alley.

That stuff is pretty cool to watch.
I personally prefer high speed natural lifts lol, interstate wheelies use to be cool but just played out now.

wheelies are for retards looking to be vegetables.
and before you say anything, a friend's brother is paralyzed from such an act.

I love riding. I had an r6 until it was stolen from me. I will own another bike just have to wait again.
Stunt riding isn't bad as long as it is in closed areas. Way to stupid doing it on the street.

i respect motorcycles. very neat machines. I couldn't own one myself though. my ex died on one riding as a passenger last may. I also attempted to ride one and just couldn't get the hang of the whole clutch system and such. Neat to watch though.

Sad story.
On that note, a friend of mine took his brand new wife on their honeymoon to FL on his brand new bike (he had ridden his whole life) Long story short, an SUV clipped them at an intersection and his wife died.
My best friend as a child always rode minibikes and small motorcyles...as did I. We grew up on them. He got a real bike as soon as he turned 16. And by the time he was 21 he was married and still riding. After having his first kid at 22 he was riding home from work one day and was run off the road over an embankment. He died at the scene. His son was 9 months old.
I used to ride but realized that with all the *******s on the road I would likely get hurt or killed...so I got rid of the bike and never looked back.

Yea.. I learned after all this time that if you ride then take every day like it could be your last. Cause unlike a car someone's stupid mistake may end your life instead of just ruin your day. It is sad to say but unfortunately stupid people on road is going to kill off the motorcycle scene.

Last year when my boss kept trying to get me to buy a bike. He actually told me leave work one day just so I can go look at bikes. I wanted a CBR600RR graffiti edition. I'm not worried about my riding skills but the other morons on the road not paying attention so I've talked myself out of getting one.

Yeah it's the other people who are stupid. I basically "rented" a 08 Ninja 250 all summer, put over 3k miles on it. I had no real experience when I took it home (street experience) and my Miata was broke so it was my DD. Rode it in the rain, night, day, to work, everywhere. I basically taught myself very quickly how to ride well lol.
I acted like every single car WANTED to kill me. I was always looking for escape routes, never putting myself near a car, etc etc. lol. Fun bike though, I was knee dragging within a few weeks of owning it.

A friend of mine bought a Ninja 250 this past summer as well and within a week had laid it down when a letting came to a sudden stop in front of him.

In deed it does but he bought the bike never riding before and learned the basics in a Kroger parking lot after he brought it home.

Thats not too bad, the first street bike i ever rode was a modded yamaha r6. My friend bought a 93 kawi zx600r, its pretty fast, but its geared really well for learners. It was his first bike, I think i might buy it when he sells it.

What's not too bad? Honestly I want another 250 lol, I have ridden an R6, an R1, and GSXR600 and as quick as they are the 250 is just a lot more fun to me.

Yeah those are nice.
I personally want a Ducati. 1098 FTMFW.
But really I have been finding some good deals on older Ducati models. Like late 90's.

It's sad, we all know people who were seriously hurt or killed on bikes (including myself), yet we all ride them (including myself). :(
Quick list of people who I know were seriously inured
Myself, broke all bones in leg, knee, shoulder, tore acl off, not my fault
Dad's friend, lost his foot at ankle, not his fault
Friend, eventually lost his foot at at ankle after countless surgeries, not his fault
Friend's brother, paralyzed neck-down, his fault but it could have happened to anyone
Dad, broken rib, first/only event in 50 years riding, not his fault
That's just what I can come up with quickly, there are probably others if I think about it.

the ninja seems more like a realistic goal for me, the ducati i would be scared of a rock chip.
Ducati 916 was the one i was crazy about

Yeah I agree, but I'd probably give it a nice scratch with a key so I wouldn't be scared anymore lol.

I am thinking about a Suzuki TL1000R. Used to have a Ducati 916. Since I now have a new (2 years old) titanium/ceramic hip, I can ride again. Used to race AMA/CCS back in 86. Rockingham and I had a disagreement. Broke my back and lost a nice 1100 Gixxer.
