Hey guys,
For the past 4 to 5 years, I have driven an '89 Ford Probe GT and love it to death. However, as of the past 3 or 4 months, it has slowly become more and more of a problem for reliability, and getting increasingly difficult around here to find parts for it  . Long story short, I decided to get myself a new car, which happens to be a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata. Not getting rid of my precious Probe, however I needed something to get me to and from work without any problems, and once I sat and drove in this thing I fell in love. It appears to be the GT package, leather seats, 17" wheels, etc., and it only has about 58k miles on it. Already put a a BEGi TBI on it (on the probe we had a TB boot, flew off all the time, wasn't having that happen on this), only other future plans consist of a good roll bar (I like my head in 1 piece) and probably a boost gauge (for diagnostic purposes).
Here's some pictures of old faithful:

(I wish she was still this clean, it's gettin some serious love once the Miata is finished being paid for in a few months. Also, those ugly *** brake dust covers aren't on there any more either)
Aaaaaaaand here's some pics of the new one:

Beyond the roll bar and the boost gauge, I'm probably going to wind up putting one of those grom units in so I can play songs directly off of my phone via bluetooth, I hear they work pretty well (when they're working properly). To be honest I'm not terribly much into "modding" or beefing up cars, in my eyes they lose their value that way if it should ever go up for resale. If I were to though (and for the first time considering it because the turbo does seem a little peaky), I'd probably be doing some work on the intake to see if it'll help get the turbo spooling a little sooner than 4200-4500rpm (although when it does take off it's one heck of a good time). Although, that is probably just a matter of getting used to, the Probe typically started spooling around 2300-2500rpm but it also has a very small turbo :), and just used to it going almost all the time. That and once everything is all done and paid for, new tires are a must, the ones that came with the car (Toyo Extenza HP's) don't grip to the road worth anything in the rain. Aside from that though, I'm quite satisfied with the car just the way it is.

I have a Grom unit in my car with the sole purpose of using it with bluetooth. There is a distinct high pitch noise that constantly plays when the bluetooth is paired and it's very annoying when listening to music. Overall, I am not impressed with it. It works, but the quality isn't that great. If possible, I'd stick with a 3.5mm jack or try replacing your headunit as I think the problem is the cheap bluetooth that came with the Grom.
Let me know what you decide to do.
Edit: Almost forgot to say....Welcome aboard! :)

Welcome to the forum! Nice MSM as well! The turbo on them is also very small, but as you suspect, some intake work (and other minor mods) can wake it up considerably, vendors such as Flyin' Miata and Bell Engineering sell parts that will take care of that, or you can find them used on various Miata forums for less money. The stock bypass valve is also a weak point and can leak which would further dampen boost response.

Not happening, that thing is my precious, they're hard to come by not mutilated and ravaged down here :) Of anything, buying the Miata has made me appreciate that thing even more just in different ways.

zomg, we gotz us a creeper!
Lol, thanks, glad to see there are some folks that have got some love for the Probe, usually people are quick to bash it that know what it is because of what it is called, but it's a good fun car (and that poor old beater can kill civics :) )
I wish I didn't have to put that cover on top of it, but under those trees.......I'm going to be out there every dang weekend trying to keep the thing clean, especially with fall coming and the sap dropping soon (I fear trying to get that stuff off of the cloth top if it gets on the Miata, may have to get another cover.....) Not to mention we have way too many dang cars in the driveway
if you drive past my place, I know there is a white NB that is always parked at the CVS there on the corner, wonder if that person is on the forums......

Got the unit in today and installed, working fantastic via bluetooth. You may want to try updating the firmware and see if there is some interference coming from elsewhere. Hands free works OK with the windows down/top up, but top down can be very annoying for the listener.
