Hello MX5 Atlanta.

You folks have a nice forum going. Thanks for having me.

I'm an Atlantan now living in Nashville. I've had my 1991 base model since 1999 and it now has more than 185k miles on the clock.

If you've seen a mariner blue with a roll bar and a driver waving fanatically at you, it might just be me.

Cheers,
91BaseGuy

Okay, here it is. It's a bit of a track rat. And the stripes are no longer on it, but I did like the look.

Welcome! I came across a few youtube videos of you at TGPR while looking for in car video to learn the course. I went this past Monday for the first time. Good times.

And you met me there. qualcon, you have discovered my secret identity. :D

The only pic I could find was from when my car had "the skunk stripe," as my friends called it. I thought it was very "retro-cool," but it was a bit too "look at me" on the street.

Cheers,

I like that stripe a lot. It's just nicely broken in then, my 91 had 269k when we pulled the motor, to put in a turbo 1.8, not that there was anything wrong with the 1.6. Welcome to the board!

lol. Dude! Didn't realize it was you. I only saw the videos before going to the event. Seeing them now, it's obvious... Thanks for the ride. It was very educational.

qualcon,

You are very welcome. Your car felt great, handling wise, and glad to hear you got the clutch adjusted, though.

...But beware - many of my videos are educational in what NOT to do! Clean, fast laps make for boring video, but MISTAKES, we love those! :D

I was at TGPR that day too, I was the guy that rode along in the orange Mazdaspeed.

I remember you then. I think your driver friend discovered his tires were not really up to the task that day, especially with the heat. I love the color of that car.

Did the, um... experiment with the splitter adjustment work out okay?

ha yeah my little driver friend was my sisters bf and yeah the tires were awful! The "splitter adjustment" went well, it definitely wasn't as bad as it sounded from inside the car. Just broke the splitter in half! haha

Ouch. Hope it's easily repairable...?

I'm going to host a small event in September. If I do, are you interested in coming out?

I am interested, we will when we get a little closer to the actual event if I'm still down!
