I've had the Tokico HP package for about 6 months and I've enjoyed it, despite all the awful reviews it gets. It's to the point of where I want to go a bit lower than the acclaimed 1". I'm not sure whether or not to spend the extra $200 on the FM V-Maxx and have full coilovers, or go with Ground Control sleeves on my HP struts. I've been leaning towards the GC sleeves but I'm worried that it will cause the shock to blow out. I'm just assuming that if they fit the Illumina's then they'll fit on the HP's the same.
Any input would be great.

The HP's are really rated for stock spring rates, so yeah, if you throw the illumina GC sleeves and the springs that go with them, you are going to have problems. Call FM, and see if they have a set up with spring rates closer to stock. Each GC is made for the specific shock, both for the diameter of the shaft, but also the spring rates that is felt to work the best for it.
FM can generally mix and match the springs to your desires, and they may have some 125/225 springs around. Other than that, which will cost $400 new, no matter where you buy them new, you cankeep an eye out for a set of GC/KYB AGX combos. They generally go for around $400 over on CR.net used.
Good quality coilovers, generally can be found for between $650-800 used on CR.net, or occasionally new on Ebay. I try and post whenever I see a particularly good deal available.

I have a set of Tokico Illuminas with Ground Control sleeves for sale. Spring rates are the standard 425/300 that FM sells. PM me if you are interested.

I'm leaning towards the Illumina setup now. Does anyone on here have the v-maxx on their car and could compare it to Normal shock/spring setup?
