This is mainly for Mike as I know he wets his panties just thinking about owning a set of LM's. TJ (the owner of the car) had these wheels specially painted but I think they look sick.

I like the wheels...but the color doesnt do it for me.
BBS wheels are a classic style that will be around forever.

TJ is the biggest wheel wh0re I know. I'm sure he's traded these for something else before they even had a chance to get dirty.

I can't get past that color. Or the stupid-low stance. Screwed-up wheel-well proportions, anyone?

So much potential, and all wasted.

Yes what is up with the messed up wheel sizing??

I like the colour personally, but it would more of the sort of thing I do to a cheap set of wheels. With those kinda things I'ld have done something classier.

What is everyone complaining about the wrong wheel size? There not poking out like the typical Miata stuff you see on CR.net. Sure, the wheel setup is a little aggressive but by no means terrible.

Although I am not into 'rubberband' tires, I dont find the sizing on that car to be so bad, to me it looks okay. Like you say, at least theyre not sticking out 3 inches beyond the fenders. lol

I just wouldnt paint nice looking and very expensive wheels such an ugly color that doesnt even match the car very well. But thats just me and my opinion.

I just think the wheel wells of S2ks make them look uber-lame when lowered, especially lowered that far, and with ugly-colored wheels highlighting the ugliness.

I think they look awesome! I would totally rock that color.

And get it right, S2000's look amazing when slammed.

I think the car looks great.

The thing that makes the pics look all wrong is the fact that the angle of the sun causing there to not be a shadow under the car. I bet a pic taken just after the sun had set would make a huge difference.

I agree that the angles on the photos is all wrong. I would have set that car up completely different... and it would have looked much, much better. (IMO)

I think the tires are too narrow and I'm not a fan of the wheel color but it's not horrible by any means. I see things on CR that make me want to poke out my own eyes all the time.

Me likey these

Look at the front wheel. Look how much over hang there is from the bumper to the wheel. Because it's been slammed so much and needs smaller tyres to do so, it magnifies it. I like your's much better.

I see what your referring to now. I believe the angle the shot was taken in has something to do with it because in person, it's does not look that bad.

Thanks for the comments on my car though! Expect to see new wheels and suspension on it coming up very soon. :)

Cage on the S2K needs padding, not just so you don't die but it would look better.

He had a nice helmet that he had custom painted to look similar to the mazda heritage scheme, and gave it to me after seeing pictures my old Miata.

Unfortunately there is not enough clearance between the cage and softtop to accommodate any padding.

simontibbett

For the safety aspect at least sure there is.

Depending on what cage that is padding won't fit. Cages/rollbars in S2Ks fit a lot differently because of their integrated hoops and odd top frames, there isn't a lot of room to play with. Caged S2Ks really should have hardtops only. I personally saw one where the softtop could not close because the top frame could not come down all the way due to interference from the padding. And we're talking very slim SFI padding.

The padding I posted will fit no matter what, as it doesn't go around the whole bar, just spots that can be contacted. Miata cages minus the little HardDog cage won't allow use of a softop unless custom fitted.

Neither does the SFI padding used on the S2000 I'm referring to. It attaches just like the padding from Hard Dog does, mainly on the front where head contact is possible. But the frame clearance of the soft top is so close to some of those cage's bars, it can barely close as it is. It's not like our cars where we can force the top shut manually, they're power driven, you can't force those gears to move when they stop.
Think of it like trying to shove 83.5mm pistons in an 83 mm bore. It's only .5mm, which is nothing, but it just won't work.

I don't know what padding HardDog has, I was speaking of the actual cage itself. I have seen soft top S2K's with that cage or at least similar looking with the padding style I posted.
