No way it stays at $500, but if it does and I actually won it, can you pick it up and hold it for me CharlestonMX5? Great excuse to go get some low country boil and shrimp n' grits!

That's a long drive from Charleston, I will have to Google the least use of highways to get to Kingston. I doubt it stays at $500 either. I figured one of you local guys could email him an offer and pick it up.

On a side note, I hear the shrimping season isn't going to be too good this year. I'll talk with one of the DNR guys this week.

I can't remember how close Kings Bay was, if it's not a hop and a skip, then f+ck it, I'm really in it for the Boil anyways. I lived on Pawley's Island for almost a year when my son was born. I miss it, but they didn't have any SEAL teams in Charleston, and although I briefly served as a 2nd LT in the SC Natl Guard,(My unit went on strike at the beginning of the war over their un-armored Humvees being vulnerable, I was sure if I wanted to cry or whether I was proud of them) the Active Army was unwilling to honor my Reserve commission. Of course this was in 1998, by 2003 they were sending me love notes. I unfortunately had broken C-2 in a helicopter jump and was unable to attend the current festivities with either the Guard or the Active Army, the US Navy having given me a lovely pension, which I continue to enjoy. Hopefully, I will find a reason to drive down to Charleston soon, and maybe I'll look you up when I do.

Just give me a shout if you head this way. There are a couple of Ex-Seals that live near me, and I had a friend in the SEALS, but I haven't seen him in a while, going on 2 years now. I wonder where he could be ? Damn interesting stories too !

Oh hell I know what you were thinking about, Kingstree SC, up near Pawleys Island !

I think we might have a deal Bob. But I was looking at pictures of Red miata's with black hardtops and I kinda liked the look. How about we just switch cars instead of tops? I'd love to have the mariner with a black top ;)

Hey... just so you know. Mine is Classic red under all that runny spray paint. ;D

I'm working on getting off the spray paint so I will have a good base to paint.

$1025 with two days left to go. When I'm ready to sell my snugtop it is definitely going on eBay.

I cant believe that thing sold for over $1000 with summer just around the corner!

In my experience winter/summer doesnt have sheit to do with hard top sales.
That is mostly a myth.
They sell equally well all year long.

The primary factors are:
1. Need
2. Opportunity

Need = racers etc who must have one.
Opportunity = The chance to buy local (within reasonable distance) and/or the right color and condition.

These two factors drive hardtop sales. Weather/season doesnt factor much at all.
The most expensive hardtops I have ever sold have been in the middle of a summer heatwave due to factor number 2.

Bad news Bob, the snug top won't pass tech inspection for spec, so it will have to go to a non racer guy....

Snugtops are generally worth 50-60% of OEM, for that reason and others.

I love having my hardtop one its great to have on the car IMO but also its like having a $750-$1200 savings at all times. If you need money you can always sell it and you know you can get that for it.

Could someone tell/show me the difference between hard top and snug top?

I'm guessing hard top is oem, snug top is not?

I sold it to some brokazz doosh ricer last time I was there.
He offered $150 and was an unemployed student with an ebay tupperware laden turd bucket NA, so I let him take it.
Didnt Papa Joe give you the $$$? It's a check. I hope its good.

I've got a Snug Top that originally came with my 1995. I've since replaced it with an OEM. From the outside, it is virtually impossible to distinguish it from an OEM. On the inside, the latches are different. While they are not legal for Spec Miata racing and probably a few other series, I never had any problem at all passing tech inspections for track days sanctioned by the SCCA and other organizing bodies. For SCCA PDXs for example, the requirement is an approved roll bar OR an OEM hard top, but both are not required.

PDX is one thing.
Spec racing podium is another. ;)
You can get away with it in Spec if you stay way toward the back.
Technically its not legal.
