Hi, I just bought a 1992 with 100k on the clock, I hope it is the truth. Anyway I have been a dsm owner and enthusiast for the last 12 yrs. I bought my Miata because of gas prices. With my job I drive all day long. I do outdoor advertising sales. I have been driving my 03 chevy silverado, but to fill it up costs 90 bux. I love my truck but I just filled up the Miata and it cost 34 bux. My DSM is a 1997 AWD. The car currently makes 583hp and 498tq. I have maxed out the turbo, this is on e-85 fuel. I love my new Miata even though my friends call me certain names I can't say. I DON'T CARE...I LOVE IT. I am not looking to modify this car but I do have many questions on maintenance and common problems with this model. Anyone want give me any knowledge, that would be great.

Common problems? Dude these cars are POSs! Everything breaks on them all the time! Kidding - the Miatas are incredibly reliable and parts are cheap. They handle great in stock form and there are plenty of suspension upgrades that will only add to the fun. You can add power one step at a time with basic bolt ons, or add boost if you want a big jump in power.
The biggest problem I've found with these cars is that they are addictive.
Wecome to the site, and post pics of your DSM!

I have a fast car. My Miata will stock forever so I say now. It does have koni shocks, a catback and a an Apexi cai. Old guy who had it before me put these mod on. Like I said I just want to know more about maintenance like drivetrain fluids, and basic care of the car. Btw I figured out how fragile the car is. I cracked the guage hood on accident the first day I got it home. I was pissed. Guess I will glue iit back together.

Even stock these cars are a blast. Welcome to the site, sooner or later you'll start thinking about modifying the miata, and you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum!!!
miata's even stock are fun as hell, although they are begging for more hp all the time. Lost mine hydroplaning and goin up under a big rig and now im stuck with this daily driver 87 buick century. I appreciate the buick for what it is, but i dont feel like im part of the road anymore, and i dont enjoy driving anymore..stinks. Cant wait to get another MX5 and feel like the car and myself are one again.

Welcome!
Those gauge hoods are notoriously fragile... You have to hold your tongue just right and sacrifice just the right chicken to get them off without breaking a tab.

Driving the Miata was awesome today. Got an emission so I can get my tag and the car failed. Had to put a converter. I will retest it tomorrow.
