Watching Barret Jackson now and a 1957 Desoto Fireflite just went across the auction block.
It was a 2 dr cpe, went for 65K. Guess I wont be getting one. :lol:
As a kid my neighbor had a 57' convertible of this car. It sat in the back of their property and was never driven. I always loved and wanted it. When I was old enough to drive and had some $$ I came home to check on the car, maybe buy it...they had JUST had it hauled away!
It was just like the one at the bottom.

I can appreciate them but the appeal of those kind of cars passes me by. They're extravagant and cool but I've always been a fan of the smaller slicker cars from Italy and Britain during those years.

Well being youre from Britain thats quite understandable. :)
I grew up riding in the back seats of these kind of cars....and driving them. My grandfather had a 57 Dodge powered by a hemi (very similar to the 57 Desoto) and riding with him and hearing the rumble of the dual exhaust behind us as he throttled it to speed was ingrained into me. I love the extravagant and Jetson like styling cues and wings found on cars from 1957-1960. Ad a 400hp+ big block or hemi and mmmmmm. Theyre truly a one of a kind in automotive history.

And...Selling my 'needle in the haystack' 69 Dart GTS 440 about 8-9 yrs ago is totally depressing. Ah well...cant take it with ya. :lol:

speaking of old cars, my dad recently (last 3 days) brought the 66 chevelle out of its trailer and i got to romp around in it. it was quite fun. 4-speed on the floor + 500+hp + economy tires off a 71 nova = no tread left after spinning all 4 gears
