i hope for this to be one of the sickest NA's on the street, but only time will tell.
anyways, its nice to have a local forum to hit up, and im sure you guys will be seeing alot of me in the future:)

Well its onstage 1.. Its at yellow river collision getting a full color change to rosso scuderia aka ferrari red. I got a wing and a lip for it as well. I think A garage vary style lip and a kg works spoiler. i am also getting other items painted on the car such as the dash (satin jette black) and the lip and spoiler are being color matched tothe dash. it is extensive and it is in the bodyshop for 4 weeks total.
Asnfar as being ultimate, well, im sure time will tell but i am extremly excited with what i have planned out
i know how far talk goes online, so ill just let my futurepics do the talking;)
I guess i should also saythat i do notplan for thisto beone of those quick projects. Truth is i am planning for it to takesomewherenaround 5 years in the end, with each stage taking 1 year. I have hadproject cars from all brands (skyline powered 240,13.1 sec allmotor honda, talon awd, and even a 1980 toyota corolla) but this will be the last. as such, it will handle better, accelerate faster, and look better than any of the others:)

Welcome John, be advised current sickest NA is probably up for discussion, but I know that Laguna Roadster put down 281whp on a dyno, sickest NB is up for argument, with Thunder currently at 405 whp, and of course there is FourSevens' 99 10AE which is packed with an over 400 whp Cadillac CTS-V drivetrain, and these are just the Atlanta locals here on MX5ATL, so please come at it hard with your 500whp (because I really want to take the Thunder out of Nick's stable).

is 900whp the # i need to hit?
i guess i shouldnt really post too many of my plans since all of you know that any project of this size will require sizeable amounts of cash and time. for me neither of those come easily lol.
the plan is to have it down every winter, and up every summer with new mods :)
*edit* its neat seeing so many high hp cars on here. i guess ill go ahead and state my longterm goal was ~600whp maybe 700 depending, of course on cash flow ;) but if by the end of stage 4 of this build, if i am any less than 400whp, i will be somewhat dissapointed..

Lofty goals! I can't even imagine how anyone could hit those numbers (boosted LSX?), but I know this - if it can be done anywhere, it can be done here in Atlanta. We have so many impressive Miatas out of the Atlanta area, just a few of which Dave described above, and many more awesome builds in the works.
(because I really want to take the Thunder out of Nick's stable).
I'm not even going to try and compete with anyone that has those kinds of goals! I can't take any credit for Thunder anyway - that all goes to the PO and Ryan who built the car. I'm just a dude that had some ca$h laying around!
Looking forward to watching this build, John. Make sure and post pictures after the paint job is complete.

take one ride in a miata that has between 275 and 325 ponies destroying the pavement! I bet you would be far from disappointed! Once you break the 350hp mark in our cars your gonna have to do some serious work in ways of helping your car keep traction! All things to keep in mind.....

The only way I can easily see it being done is on a 2.0L Stroker (10k engine right dhere) or a swap! Im sure it can be obtainable on a 1.8L but I see it being somewhat tricky.....

ill def keep the forum updated to my progress :) thanks for the warm welcome (it was not nearly as warm at the miata.net forums, where most people told me id be ruining the car with that much power)
LSX;)

There is no such thing as too much power! it just all depends on what you do with it, how you harness it and how you keep them tires stuck to the pavement is what matters!

i stopped going on those other miata forums a long time ago... telling you that you will ruin a car with any power goal is just them being a keyboard cowboy. Welcome to the sickness.

Only way 900hp in a miata isn't totally pointless is if you plan on tubing the rear and making it a dedicated drag car, which someone on M.net is doing though I have no idea his hp plans.

Welcome, you have so big shoes to fill. This forum has had its fair share of badass miata, as OGF has said. Granted he left off T-bones SC 5.0 ;)
And photos of your old Talon, I still miss mine somedays. Then I take the miata and remember how much better my miata is then old Talon, even at half the horsepower.

900 out of an LS is not out of the question....You will need to have that come in High on the RPM range.....Nothing is pointless.

I know, I can not believe I forgot the 5.0! OTH I was just naming the top NA and top V8 swaps I could remember off the top of my head, and I'm not sure whether the 5.0 beats the HP of the LSx motor in David's 10AE. OTH, TBones 5.0 definitely wins major style points with that riser hood and the RB bumper...but then David's 10AE has that bad *** wing, and fastback...
Nick, when I said I want to take down Thunder...uhm I meant I WANT TO take down Thunderhttp://www.mx5atlanta.com/forums/images/blackandblue/icons/icon10.gif I have a little of the sickness too, and I also want it to be purdy too. Hell I could buy a real nice miata for what I have just into the interior.
What are your goals? Okay 700 whp? I can see it with an LSx and a turbo...question is Drag Car? Road Racer? Street Car? Make those decisions now, it will be cheaper in the long run not to change your path too many times in mid-stream. The furom, this one, is a family. We taunt each other, and talk smack now and again, but ,perhaps because we see each other regularly at meets (come whether your car is running or not, you'll have fun and see great cars), we support each other and we do not tolerate Trolls. Nobody is going to flat out insult you, whether its what you want to do with a motor choice, or if you want to paint your car the color of lime ice cream. We encourage dreamers here. I had a good friend in San Diego that had one of those little Datsun 1600 Roadsters from the 60's. It had a 400 whp 5.0 engine shoehorned in there, the engine bat didn't have room for the oil filter, so it was relocated behind the front wheel driver's side. Ditto the radiator was behind our heads initially, I was able to source two smaller radiators to go in the wells of the fenders. That car had a tubbed rear end, ran Mickey Thompsons that were like two feet wide...each. It ran a sub 10 second quarter, couldn't turn worth a sh*t, but is was unbelievable in a straight line. Good luck making your dreams happen.
