They are basically junk.
Some people use the sleeves with better springs with verifiable spring rates.

Tein S tech are pretty much crap too IMO.
Tokico Illuminas are okay.
I think some H&R spring or Eibach Pro Kit springs with KYB AGXs would be a better choice for a budget 'lowering' setup. You could also match some Egay coilover sleeves with some better springs. Used FM springs with AGXs would work too.
Pat would probably tell you to do Riceland coil overs for a cheap setup. :D

I just picked up a set of eBay OBX coils & sleeves (Ground Control knock-off's) and am waiting on a set of Bilstein HD's to complete my $500 suspension upgrade. My plan is to try it out for a summer, then get the shocks re-valved at the end of the season by one of the popular shock tuners. In the end, I'll have a set of custom-valved monotube coilovers for about $700.

The Vmaxx kit from Stratmosphere or FlyinMiata is a great entry-level upgrade from stock, and at $500 (from Strat) are one of the best deals out there. According to my notes the front springs are about 390 lb/in and rears are 260 lb/in, rates which are pretty aggressive but still streetable. Their biggest weakness is the shock, which is adequate, but nothing to write home about.
The springs & sleeves kit I just got is cheap and modeled after the proven Ground Control kit for Miatas: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/eBayISAPI.dll?item=190495417886. Lots of guys on M.net have paired these with Illuminas, Koni Yellows, and Bilstein HDs with good results. I chose Bilstein's because they're a high-quality monotube shock which I can later have rebuilt/revalved as needed, without spending an arm and a leg.

I prefer the Rokkor option to Raceland

I have Ebay coilover with stock shocks on my 2003. I really dont mind them and when i drive in the Mt with them, I like them, need some new shocks not because they are leaking but because i want to stop some of the "bounce" in my ride. I recommed them for someone who likes feeling the car PLANTED on the ground and is willing to sacrafice quality of ride for IMO better handling. They are not as "crappy" as everyone says..... But im talking more about JUST the springs, the sleves suck balls, i am about to just scrap them and use the springs and new shocks, it only lowered my car about 2.5 ish inches, with out the sleve at all, right where i want it, and 60 bucks shipped is worth it.

For the price of the Racelands, you can get a set of Ground Control coil over collars with quality springs, teamed with AGX shocks, throw a set of FM rear shock mounts on the NAs with new bumpstops from FM and your set to lower, corner weight, adjust your shocks...combine this with a good set of aftermarket sway bars and you've got a great improvement over stock. Prices? Well new, your looking at $400 for the GC collars, around $400 for the KYB AGXs, the FM rear mounts and bumpstops are $269, and come packaged together. I really liked the FM sways I had on my NB, and am running Racing Beat sways on the new project, either should cost right at $200. Now here's the secret: Springs don't wear out much under the stock miata's weight, and good quality shocks like the AGX or Bilsteins will go 100k without needing a rebuild (tokikos are called:" to leak os", on a bunch of forums, Kurt has had great luck, others not so much) A complete setup of shocks and GC collars sell used for about $400, the sways are right at $125-150 used, the FM rear mounts go for right at $200 used. Slow down and scour the classified sections on ClubRoadster and TurboMiata as well as Miata.net, tere are great deals all the time over there. Hell one guy got a set of OHLINs DHV coilovers on Clubroadster two months ago for $800 (they list at $3000++ new) Most guys are either going back to stock, or upgrading to something more hardcore, so the stuff is hardly used in most cases. I bought the set of H&R coilovers (after Ripley informed me they were nearly the same as the Bilstein PSS I had put on my NB) with less than 5K on them for $650 shipped. Save your money for a good buy. I for one think for $650 I'd rather have my H&Rs than a set of Racelands.

I've run the eBay coil over sleeves. What you really need to watch for is a snug fit at the perch. If it's loose, then it needs to be better supported or the sleeve will split. My rears were loose so I just used the OE bilstein perch to sit them on. Works fine. I've got about $350 in my suspension for 4 bilstein Rs, eBay coilovers and two coil over springs from summit to soften the ride (moved the eBay rear coils to the front).
