i'm sure there will be those that disagree and possibly agree, but i like the rule of a certain amount of legit posts to one's account before posting a for sale thread. just saying. i find it rude and similar to taking advantage of a free forum. with some of the other sites you must have a number of posts and/or be a donating member. i mean it is nice having our for sale and wtb section because the majority of us have all bought and sold things from other members, however ALL active users that go about these transactions have made numerous posts on this forum, contribute with donations, attend meets, give advice, help other forum members out, find useful links etc...
just curious what you all think?

you'd have to come up with a good set number for this to work or we'll have to deal with people post whoring just to sell and then leave.. at the same time what if someone comes to the site and is legit about selling things other members need but dont have enough posts.. thin line to walk..

true but im sure the mod squad could figure all that out easily. i think off topic posts dont count as it is anyway

The only problem I see with it is that people typically just post-***** it up to get to the post count total. I see that problem on miataturbo all the time - someone joins up and posts a bunch of "looks good!" and "cool!" comments until they reach 10 posts.

Agree with what Nick said. In a perfect world people wouldn't post wh*** up to the required minimum amount of posts, but they do, and it's a real pain to clean up after. Then they get all mad when you delete their unnecessary posts, etc. It's easier to just have the forum as it is. If someone comes on here and sells a car or a part, good for them, that's why the classifieds are there. Everyone needs money and there's no harm in providing the service that allows them to make it. We hope they stick around, but such is not always the case.
As always, be cautious with any sale, usually people have honest intentions, but there are people who will take advantage of you as quickly as they can too.

Minimum post counts are ghey. They are a favorite of ricer ****** boards and a total waste of time. There is no reason to prohibit free enterprise. When/if mods see a spam post or one that is highly suspicious they can just delete it. Thats what I think. :)
Remember, when you try to limit ******ry by post limits you also kill a post for the person who has owned a 93LE/Sunburst/BRG/low mile beauty since new, never was involved in online forums, and now wants to sell his or her car. The whole concept is seriously flawed IMO.

Agreed.
Buying and selling used parts is the lifeblood of a car forum. Limiting this resource will only prove detrimental to the board.
Thanks for the concern though Calvin, I understand the frustration you may hold as a dedicated poster and see what can be perceived as taking advantage of the board. But not everyone uses online forums in the same way, ms hopefully someone here can get a good deal every now and then, and occasionally see a new user want to stick around and post some more!

What if someone comes on here and posts a GV lip in great shape for like $30 but can't because we have a minimum. Then they either say **** it or wait it out and realize that it's worth much more.
Then someone would have just lost a great deal.

On more than one occasion I've simply not posted items on forums exactly because of this reason, I have no interest in wasting my time posting bs to get my post count up.

you must be a necromancer... post counts are for video and pr0n hidden forums.

Well I guess I am one of the people that you are talking about... I am newb on here that has just a couple of posts and has pretty much stayed in the classified sections. It is not that I am only interested in buying or selling parts though.
I have mostly been using this forum for researching what coilover setup I would want to go to in the future (summer) with my NA. So far even without making a post on it I have found that Racelands aka Ricelands are only for looks, and you get what you pay for with pretty much everything else. Although this is pretty basic information, it has helped me see that the best setup for me will most likely be something in the $600 range such as the FM V-Maxx setup. In addition, this site has also introduced me to other sites as well such as miata.net and clubroadster.net that have also been a great help in finding reviews for different suspension setups.
Being a veteran from a couple of other forums from previous cars that I have owned I don't want to just come in here and write a bunch of newb threads. I try to be a positive member that actually researches a topic before making a thread on it.
Although I know there will be alot of people on the forum that don't post much and just use the free enterprise of classified section for selling their stuff, their are some members on here that like myself I am sure may not post much, but are trying to use the site to research topics for their car without posting a thread that immediately gets shot down.
Sorry for the long post but just trying to represent another side of this argument.
