Hey everyone - glad I found this forum.

I bought a '99 right when I graduated college 6 years ago, but soon found I needed to sell it to fund a more "practical" car. I've been Miata-less ever since... until Thursday.

Found a $1200 car in Craigslist, and it was right down the street from where I work. I left work right then. I got it for $940 and drove it home that night.

Good:

1-owner. I got all the books, some records, and original window sticker ($13,080)
173K miles (Maybe not "good".... OK I guess)
Cruise/pwr windows
No leaks
5-speed
No rust - always been an ATL car

Bad:

Front right corner ding
Peeling paint
Ripped top from PO not using zipper when putting the top up/down
2 Bald tires (Pirelli's)
A/C doesn't cool
Truck battery in the trunk (that'll be the first thing to get replaced - I need all the brackets back there)
Needs a few interior trim pieces (Any junkyards around here?)
Driver's seatbelt receiver doesn't engage (I'll work on that today)
Exhaust leak

So, it'll be a nice winter project. This isn't going to be a track car or anything, I'd just like something fun/reliable to drive on the weekends and take up to the mountains a few times a year. I plan on keeping the daisy's on it, and I'll do the paint job myself in the driveway.

Today I'm going to take a look at the fluids, maybe switch the battery, and pressure wash the undercarriage.

Previous owner was an older gent.... I think he really took care of this car when he first got it, but as it (and he) aged, it got neglected. I bought it through a 3rd party - didn't even meet him.

Enough talk - here are some pictures. Whatcha think?

Vitamin D is parting out a white '90 that might have some good body parts to be had if you're interested. Check in the for sale section. Congrats, and welcome back in the family.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like a nice project! Good luck with it! There are plenty of people here who can help with the parts when you need them. :)
