Okay, time to spill. What generation do you drive? Are you an original NA? A holy smokes that's sexy NB? The technological marvel NC? Or are you a complete wuss and drive something Other Than Miata? If you're feeling talkative, tell us why you chose your machine.

I drive an NA. When I was looking for a Miata, specifically 94 or 95, I wanted to not spend a fortune on an NB and didn't want to deal with OBDII because I knew I'd be turbocharging it (just came out of a turbocharged '02 Saturn, I hate OBDII  )
I like the NBs appearance-wise, but IMO they are too refined to be a Miata. The NAs have a more roadster feel to them, they're rough, raw, and down to the basics. Oh, and call me weird, but I absolutely love flip-up headlights.

Took the NA for the full on Miata experience and because it's cheaper. I also love how its look and attitude. I wish I could have found an OBDI 1.8 but had no such luck, in the end my 96 was the same price as the older ones but with less miles and much better condition.

I've previously owned several NA6 and NA8 miatas, from uber garage queen low miles cars, special edition cars, to nasty highly modified. Current car is an early NB.

The more I drive them, the more I see that the newer they get, the better they get. I know there's not a lot of NC love from the NA guys, but the NC is very capable car with minor suspension upgrades.

For me nothing supersedes the simplicity, reliability, and drivable fun of a 1.6 Miata.
All others are further down the chart, in looks and in 'roadster feel' as Eric put it. ;)

Had a 90 na which I purchased new, then a 94 na also purchased new. Supecharged the 94 as well as a bunch of other mods. Now own an NC prht, have upgraded the stereo, sway bars and springs on the way, to be followed by a supercharger.

I have an NA, I personally prefer the NA's looks over the NB's big time. Plus I bought my car for 1700 with roll bar, two sets of tires, Teins, KYB's, header, intake, extra parts galore, steel braided lines, and more. Couldn't pass that up. I wanted a car that I could take to the track right then with no work needed.

My Miata order goes: NA, NC, NB.

I own a 96 NA, i have never owned one before this. i found this one lingering around on craigslist. i picked it up for 3k with 105,000 miles on it. ill admit at first i really didn't like the car. but after i spent some time driving it and putting some money into it, i began to love the car. HAHA! and now my girlfriend complains about how my car means more to me than her! :p < its not true.

same story, found mine on craigslist. I was looking for a rwd car that wasn't expensive or unreliable. I almost bought a 240 that needed some work, then a cressida, but I found my 97 in great shape with a brand new top and shocks for $3700. Took the plunge and have never looked back! I think my headlights look better than NB ones too :P

NA for me. i choose the platform because my first taste of the mx5 was matthewapm's na track car, that i fell in love with, at this time i was in the 240 or die attitude, but the miata grew and grew on me, then jesse here got a na which i finally got to drive and it made me fall for it completely. then after my 240 died, i sold all the parts decided that i wanted the BRIGHT *** BLUE miata, and luckily found one and picked it up, and ive honestly never had anymore fun driving any other car.

After having both, I still prefer the NB. I see the NB as more of a sports car then a classic-like roadster. I've never been big into old roadsters so maybe that's why i'm not as attached to the NAs. I love the slightly more rounded body and the curves over the rear wheels that the NB has. I also like the dash better. I wouldn't mind having another NA one day though, it's not like I completely dislike them, but to me, they take some work to loose the "cuteness" of the stock body lines (like dumping the gross looking front turn signals, the black painted chip guard, and the small mouth of the car).

My miata has kinda a story behind it. Ever since my family moved down here from Ohio, 15 years ago, and my dad got his job down here, my dad had wanted a miata. ONe of his scientists had one, and he would ask him all the time if he was ready to sell it all the time, and he would say, "when im ready to sell it, youll be the first one I call." In december of 07, my dad found an 07 copper red grand touring miata with a brown top at rosenthal Mazda in virginia for 17k with 5k on the clock. So he flew up there and bought it. About 9 months later that scientist of his finally retired and called him up and was like im ready to sell the miata. My dad already getting his dream car calls me up and asks if i wanted to go look at a car to daily drive. I said sure and drove over there to test drive it, that is after getting all of the blue book values. I got over there and drove it and it felt brand new. It was a red 91 miata that had been repainted recently, it had a bunch of seals replaced, a new top, relatively new tires, was one owner, had 119k on the clock, every single maintance record, with every oil change and recipt recorded. I Walked out the door with it for 1900. It has had a few small things go out but overall it has been a pretty good car. Sorry for the length.

NA
My first NA I purchased for a decent deal in Florida, it was the color I wanted (Laguna) and it came with a hardtop.
My second NA, I got for a steal, so that's why I went with another NA.

NB

I've actually never even been in an NA. lol

When I bought mine, I had been in and driven Mike's countless times and I liked it a lot. I drove an NC and it just didn't feel tight enough. It was squishy.. and I HATE the hood. I think I could mod an NC and get it to where I want other than that hood.. I can't stand the line of it. I couldn't get a stock NB, they are sloooooow so I drove a MSM (two actually) and was sold. I actually bought the car to save money over my last car and it's become more more than that. It's so reliable and easy to maintain as well as nice to drive and really nice to look at. I like it soooo much more now that it's decently modded. I actually was quite disappointed with the power in stock form. It's good now though! I love my little NB.

It my 2 years of owning Miatas I've had 4 NA's, driven an NB, and driven both the 6 speed soft top NC and the automatic PRHT NC. Out of all of them, I like my NA's the best, and the 1st 2 were my favorites, 1.6 cars :3 The NB's are nice looking, but too small inside for me to comfortably drive, and the NC is too soft. I love the pop-up lights as well :3

NA X 2...

I'd been away from sportscars for way too long and when my old truck died it was time to get back in. NA's were plentiful and affordable and I managed to score my 96 in really nice clean condition for reasonable money. It's like an MGB that works.

Couldnt keep my wife out of it so we scored the 92 for her about 4 months later..

I do like the more aggressive look of the NB and I'm with Jenn on her dislike of the NC hood .I havent driven either of the later gen cars.

I'm a pop up headlight fan too!

lol, thats the EXACT same thing I thought when I drove a miata for the first time. The way the windshield looks from inside the car screamed mgb to me for some reason. Also, I was just like, god this thing is tiny and feels like a go-kart... kickass!

NA's are nice, but I've always loved NB's.
My first car was a 2003 Miata. It was fun because I didn't know any better. But then I sold it for my MSM.. Now, I couldn't drive anything else.

This is the order of preference:
NB>NA>NC

I helped my bro swap in a fresh engine into his 91, and once we got it on the road, I really liked driving it. So when I got sick of my 240 (pretty much my fault, I turned it into a project instead of a DD), I started looking for a Miata. I wanted something as new as possible, without a TON of miles. I also wanted the extra power of the 1.8L (it helps when you weigh almost 270!). After watching a vid of Jeremy Clarkson calling the 99 Miata "the best British Sports Car ever," I was sold on an NB. I found mine on Craigslist, and scooped it up for $4625 with 120K on the odo. It's a little higer than I would have liked, but it runs like a champ, and I'm pretty sure it's still got a lot of life left in it.

so far i love my NB. i was first exposed to miatas while in school in North Carolina. a buddy of mine had a MSM. i took him for a ride in my mustang and he loved it. he said i should have no problem DRIVING his MSM. At the time i hadnt driven a manual in like two years. once behind the wheel i realized though sometimes fruity looking miatas are go-karts with doors. after that i was hooked. as the mustang turned into even more of a project car, my DD ranger decided to crack one of its heads. after selling the ranger i bought the 99 NB i currently own. now that all the mistakes that the previous owner are being corrected the car is really starting to come to life.

MY NB is the second NB I've owned my first one was a 99 sunset silver that we took in on trade at my dealership i got in it to see how it drove and bought it that day, then traded it in for a new one with fewer mechanical problems, my beautiful red 01.

Before I bought my NC I test drove an NB and was really disappointed with the lack of power. The dealer had a Mazdaspeed and said I should drive it but I was so put off by the NB I didn't even try it. My mistake, I should have driven it and would probably have bought it. I am happy with the NC and it goes pretty good. I would have preferred a car I could mod out a little more but with tight cash flow that might not have happened anyway. Oh well, I feel lucky I have the NC and enjoy it everyday.

well i got a NB 2000, Bought used at a small dealer. Had around 108k in the clock. Not alot of thought went into it. Saw it on autotrader and said hay $6000 for a car that looks that nice lets go take a look. Never owning a manual or two seater or a convertible i had no idea what to expect. Every thing looked good a couple of small scratches here and there. I look this car the body lines are nice. and the Garage vary body kit that is waiting to be put on the car is just sexy. especially when it looks like what Doppelgänger has. i have had to do some maintenance on the car but that is to be expected. I love how even though now it has 152K on the clock it still runs as good or better than the day i got it. I have never loved a car this much.

Dang, I clicked on this thinking y'all were gonna talk about The Who.

I drive an NA 1.8. Used to have a 1.6 and liked the way it revved, but I really like having the bigger brakes, torsen limited slip, and easily replaceable freon.

What did you want to do to an NB that you can't do to an NC.
If you haven't changed the sway bars, you need to do it. Make a world of diff in the handling.
